Reaching out into the darkness
Can anyone see me?
Night swallows everything,
The world is void.

Floundering to get a foothold,
Any purchase on the nonexistant ground,
Fruitlessly trying, aimlessly wandering
Over the seas of black.

My senses are gone
Unable to see, hear or touch,
Not a smell, not a taste
To let me know I exist.

Am I just a conciousness
Without a body to inhabit?
Am I real? Do I exist?
Why am I here?

And then the light,
Bursting through the darkness,
Punching holes in the sky
Streaming light upon me.

And I know that I am real,
That I exist, that I mean something.
For I now have a purpose, a drive,
And nothing will keep me away.
