The Life of a Tree

We started in the spring
Not knowing what we meant
Not caring about the world
Then we began to understand
Our innocence faded as the weather warmed
Pain as our tree grew
The branches bloomed
The leaves fell off with anger
Then the branches fell to the ground
They rattled the roots as they departed
The roots started to decay
No matter how much I cared
You began to leave me for the dirt
Now, your beeps help me sleep through the night,
How will I ever survive without them?
When you sleep in your bed of silk,
Will the dirt keep you warm?
Never regret the tree you grew
Don't worry I'll be with you soon
