When Tracy looked up from her type-writer, it was almost midnight. She had completely lost track of the time. She gathered her belongings, slipped on her coat, and walked outside into the fresh night air. It was very dark. Tracy didn't have a car, so she had to walk home after she was done with work. Her home was about 2 miles away from her office, so to her it didn't seem like that much of a deal. As she walked along the regular path she took to get home, she realized it had been closed off due to a car accident. She saw two workers there and when she asked them what happened, they told her that a lady driving a blue toyota was not paying enough attention to the road and she had somehow veered off and crashed into a nearby redwood. She was, unsurprisingly, killed. Tracy shuddered. She hated it when people got into car accidents, and she especially hated it when the affect was death. She looked past the workers. Off in the distance she could see the bashed up blue toyota. She wondered if they had taken the woman's body out of the truck yet. " I guess I'll just have to cut through the woods then, " Thought Tracy.
She took a path through the woods. Tracy was beginning to get a bit frightened. It was pitch black, and she could hardly see her way. The silence was overwhelming. She began to walk a little faster. Right when she turned the corner, she heard footsteps. She turned around. No one was behind her. " Must be my imagination, " Thought Tracy. She began to walk even faster now. Up ahead she saw a faint white glow. She wondered what it was. She walked further up ahead, and what she saw almost made her heart burst out of her chest. There, up by the grove in the forest, was what Tracy thought to be the woman who was just killed in the car accident. She stared at Tracy with a strange grin, and Tracy knew she was in for it. Tracy began to run, her heart beating so fast she thought she would have a heart attack. She heard footsteps behind her, and when she turned around she saw the woman, almost up to her heels. Tracy screamed. She could see that her mouth was bleeding endlessly, and that she had a huge cut across her forehead. Tracy continued to run, but the ghost was gaining on her. " Somebody help me please! " She cried. But there was no one there. This place was completely isolated.
When she finally reached the crossroads, she was completely out of breath. She could run no further. She passed out, right at the road.
" Tracy? " Said a man's voice.
" Tracy, are you okay? What happened? " He asked.
Tracy opened her eyes. She was in a hospital, and hovering above her was her boyfriend, Chris.
" Someone found you lying in the middle of the crossroads. You're lucky you weren't killed! " He said.
Tracy said nothing. She could not speak. She was trying to remember last night, piece by piece. " You have a huge cut on your forehead, " Said Chris.
Tracy sat up and looked in the mirror. There was a huge bash across her forehead, and it looked exactly like the one she had seen on the ghost.

" The man said that when he picked you up, you were trembling, " Chris said.
" He said that when he looked into the woods, he saw a faint white glow, although he was uncertain as to what it was. He said he could almost make it out as a woman, a woman laughing hysterically and when she saw him looking at her, a ghastly smile formed on her face. That's when he decided to
leave, " He told her.
Tracy said nothing." And how did you get that cut on your forehead? " Chris asked.
" It's pretty deep, it looks like someone tried to hurt you, "
She sat up and
looked in the mirror. There was a huge cut across her forehead. It looked exactly like the one she had seen on the ghost last night.
" The man that found you said that when he picked you up, you were trembling, " He told her.
" He said that when he looked at the path you had walked on, he saw footsteps that didn't match your shoes. He told me that he could make out pale woman, running back up the path. When she turned around and caught him looking at her, a ghastly grin formed on her face. That's when he decided to leave, " Chris said.
Tracy said nothing.
