I had a very strange dream
I dreamt of fire bright shinning
I saw it from a distance burning
Screaming at my senses
It called me-
Where am I going, I asked it
Where are you going, it asked me
Who am I, I asked it
Who are you, it asked me
How did I get here?
it unspoke
Why do you draw me here?
I see you, it said
But why? I asked
I love you, it said
But why? I asked
You are my child, it said
It drew me toward
Inside its flaming form
Caresses from a far away time
At once purifying and loving
Heat at once terrifying and glorious
Tendrils as august as the sun
Cleansing as the waters from the beginning of time
It spoke again, I love you
Do you understand now
...
I lie awake wondering
What did I understand?
What was I supposed to comprehend?
What does it all mean?
Why now, I ask
Out of the dark as out of the fire
unspeaks the voice for all the world to hear
I love you
*A/N* The reason lines 7 and 9 have no quotations is to portray the method of God's speech: that He does not speak as we do even when He is not . I would best describe the quotation marks, in lines 6-10, as an identification of the limitations of man. (For all those who freak when they don't see women listed as well: when I say man in this context I use it synonymously with humanity.) :) In the following lines, 11-17, the quotation marks are to emphasize the words of God and show the confusion of humanity in understanding all of God. Finally, at the end of the encounter, 25-27, quotations convey the new found wisdom imparted during the interview- the understanding.
