The Color of the Desert
Lead me through the grove,
Where our fingers first entwined.
Let me not tell you
These secret confessions.
Remember when we braided
My youth into that small tree?
Remember what was said,
For it all was over shortly.
These chains are bleached and white lace.
At first they had deceived me,
But slowly I perceived the color of the desert
Was hidden through these fallen leaves.
