Sometimes I hate that I'm alive
That I always have to strive
To be something I am not
Always in the middle of a tangled knot
Why must I be the carefree one
When all I want to do is run
Away from this place as fast as i can
Free from those that would demand
Me to only live for comic relief

I can't be unsure, angry, sad
For every time they get mad
Stop being so sullen, they proclaim
Forgetting that they are much the same
They get angry, and stay angry for days
If I'm unsure, away they say
Away until your happy again
Away until I'm masked again
Like the smile forced onto the Drummer Boy
Like the concubines trying to be coy
All wear their masks, like I do
Allowing no one to know
The emotions underneath
