A/N: Not yet finished, but when is poetry ever? I wrote it at one o'clock
in the morning, on a school night, because I was frustrated with the world.
As you will be able to tell, I was in a very cynical, sarcastic mood. There
is no definite structure to the poem; it changes, shifts, constantly. This
is because there is no structure or pattern to the world. Enjoy!

People are stupid, obnoxious, and daft
Monty Python's invading my life
Politics: broken, talk of war and a draft
The nation is drowning in strife.
Strife? Who am I
To speak of such things
While terrorists are still at large?
But we find the time for recall elections
And a movie star now runs a state.
A President's son now holds the office
Since when has that been a rule?
I'm sorry, I missed it
But since I've been gone
We re-drafted the whole Constitution.
Nope, sorry, you can't marry
You know why? 'Cause you're gay.
Oh, Britney? She's different.
She can tie the knot any day.
Ms. Spears? Oh, that's different.
She's a kid, after all.
And in Vegas, who blames her?
Of course, dear, sign here
If you wish an annulment,
Right here on the dotted line, please
No, Britney, we need your signature
Not your lawyer for a press-release.
Yeah, we've seen how many
Orphans need homes
But gosh, we don't care
'Cause you've got short hair,
And there's not mention in the tomes
Of our Book to declare
It's okay if a kid has two moms.
Steroids are evil! Down with the fad!
Has he noticed the suicide rate?
Homicide, teen pregnancy, theft, more
Really, now, think again: tell me,
Are steroids truly that bad?
I can't see, for the life of me
How he can focus
On all of these pointless things.
The Middle East hates us
Justifiably so
We meddle and meddle
And then we expect
Gratitude in the end.
I just don't know any more
It's a world gone mad.
Alas, I hear a junior shout in the hall
And I realize one small detail...
I'm still in highschool.
