Ode to Cross Country Shorts

Oh Cross Country Shorts!
How I admire thee!
So bold and daring in your design
Though your fabric be thin
And see-through,
I cherish ever piece of material
That clings loosely to my thigh.
Oh Cross Country Shorts!
Though you barely descend below my waist
And reveal more than any normal form of clothing,
I long for the times when we,
As a pair of lovers,
Shall cling to each other
Never daring to disentangle
From our passionate embrace.
Through sun and rain,
Sleet and snow.
You are there for me every time I race,
Remaining steadfast and faithful.
Though it is always your lack of length that is noticed.
Rather than your strength or prowess
No more!
Though you may be tinier than a swimmer's trunks
Your light weight
Gives me comfort and strength.
I praise thee
Oh running shorts!
I shall have no other!
