Era of Darkness

Chapter I
In the Beginning
Earth.
A rock that seems to float in space in never ending cycles. For centuries scientists have tried to understand its mysteries. Now, we know some of the codes. It circles around the sun once every 365 ΒΌ days and is the third planet from the sun. Existing since the dawn of time, created by a Higher Power.
Earth.
A glowing blue and green orb that spins on an axis, as do other planets, and goes in cycles around the sun, as do other planets. But what makes this planet so special? Life; something that exists only on Earth. But over the many past years, scientists have tried to prove that there was other existing life on other planets in our galaxy. The people of planet Earth either believe these theories or deny them. But the real question existing in all of our minds is: can there really be life on other planets? How can we be entirely sure that the scientists are correct? But, then again, how can we be sure that they are not? It's a battle in our minds that we either ignore or think upon every waking minute of life.
In the Beginning, life was primitive. As we developed and grew to different continents, we became separate beings instead of one whole. Though we are all human beings, many things in time have changed between us. Wars broke out during each century of history, and each time we have grown smarter logically. During the 1800s, many scientists discovered some cures to modern illnesses. But they also studied the stars. All through history humans have studied the stars. Wondering of their history and amazed at their majesty. When telescopes were made, planets became another part of our wondering minds. To what is their purpose in the solar system? But, to what is our purpose? For centuries past and centuries future, these questions will continue to boggle our minds that expand only so far.
But what of other galaxies? Scientists tell us that we are part of a spiral galaxy and that there are many more other kinds. For the size of space can and never has been determined. It hurts the human mind to think of when it ever ends. But, considering the size of space, could there possibly be life in other galaxies like ours? At one point in anyone's life that question crosses their minds. A headache usually follows but we continue to think upon that matter. To what extent, is depends highly upon the person who thought it.
Are there science-fictional creatures alive? Ever since the technology to make the television and the possibility to make television shows and movies, all around the world, science-fictional ideas came out upon the screen. Fantasy ideas also have been shown, crossed with science-fiction of our minds. From Mothra to Godzilla, made in Japan, or other movies made in the U.S.A., science fiction always seems possible to make up. Aliens and time portals filled with dragons and fairies and evil witches back to the future with flying cars and expansion of humanity into the outer space. All of it has been shown on television free for children and adults alike to watch and fill their minds with ideas that aliens exist in other galaxies or other planets. Whether they are innocent ideas or mind blowing horror films, aliens have invaded the minds of humans causing them to think of abductions and brain sucking, only to be returned to Earth completely 'different'. But is it all true? Could it be that an alien race has invaded the planet corrupt with humans and taken them to their ship? Or is this just the thinking of an innocent child with a mind made up of movies? To what does it matter if it is the mind of child? Adults think of such happenings. To what strange reason, we could never find out.
Earth.
Now a barren wasteland. How? It seems that science-fictional movie made up in the mind of child might have come true. But why did it happen? What exactly happened? Why are humans now struggling to survive under a newly superior race? What is this mystery race? How did they get sudden control? Do they have complete power of the human race? Were we meant to be the inferior race? Maybe they thought that humans were superfluous. But why did they think that? Or maybe they were correct. Maybe humans are superfluous. But how? We have been around almost since the dawn of time when the Higher Power created such a glorious now barren planet. Were these beings around before our creation? No. It cannot be possible. Planets were created before us so it couldn't be possible. But were they created after our creation? Plotting our demise ever since? But why? No matter how hard we think upon the matter, that question always pops up. Why would they think of our death? What have we done to them to make them think this?
In the End, humans may win; humans may lose. A war waged between these other beings and humans has been waged. And so far, Earth is only a rock spinning the void of space used as a battle ground for our battles between both beings. This will rage on for centuries causing many lives to be destroyed in the process. No longer will time be determined by years, but by how many centuries of battle we have been through. In the end, no one will know who won the war and who lost.
A/N: Yes, it was short. But it was mainly a chapter so you would understand most of the upcoming story. Please forgive me upon this matter. Please review for me! You review for me I review for you!
