Leaving this world
Leaving this world: a silent implosion
of promises broken in terrible splinters
(no sound again, ever) - leaving this world:
one life then a thousand
small deaths embedded like unending winters
in the hearts of friends - and then would you leave
and leave them to that? what honour have you
to lag behind time when you told them you'd greet
them with the day? hold up the sky for them? just one more promise
that will fall around them - and you'll simply hope
they didn't so love you
that they will have nothing;
heart-tugging nothing, this merciless space.
