Rest of My Life
Suddenly, it happened so fast
I couldn't believe the news that I received
My heart stopped as I hit the floor
I fell to my knees cryin' Lord help me
Renee took the sheet of paper from her teacher, glad to be leaving in the middle of class, and walked out of the room. Her heart started beating faster than ever as a rush of wonderings crept into her mind, and began taunting her. What if-? She shook the thoughts out of her head as she stepped up to the office window where Mrs. Krypton sat in her desk. "Hello, Renee," she said gently. "Principle Mc. Donald will see you in his office."
Nodding, Renee walked slowly towards Principle Mc. Donald's office door. She knocked once and opened the door when she heard a small 'come in' from the other side. "Please, take a seat Renee," Principle Mc. Donald told her softly. After she had followed his instructions, he began, "Renee, I have some news that happened yesterday night." Renee twiddled her thumbs and nodded. "You see," he reached and took hold of her hand. "Mark, he-he died in a car crash last night." Principle Mc. Donald sighed deeply as her hands dropped from his hold and looked up at her surprised face.
"He-he's, wha-what?" Tears began to brim her eyelids as she looked at her Principle, hoping and wishing he was joking.
"Renee, he died in a car crash last night." Renee held her head in her hands as her tears began to flow down her cheeks. "I'm so, terribly sorry."
"No," Renee said urgently. "No, he's not gone… he's still here, he's at school! I saw him!" She stood up from her seat and hysterically ran out of Principle Mc. Donald's office. She stopped abruptly and came face to face with Mark's parents. All the blood drained from her face as she saw Mrs. Alcester's tear stained face. Renee fell to the floor, muttering "No, no, no, he's not gone!" over and over again.
"Oh, Renee," Mrs. Alcester soothed, dropping to her knees as well and taking the love of her son's life in her arms. Renee hugged her back, breaking into a big sob as Dana hugged her more tightly. "Ssh, we will see him again, don't you worry. Don't you worry…"
No matter what time brings
All the changes we go through
In life there's some things
We just can't prepare for
* "Hah, sucker!" Mark sneered at his girlfriend in a sinister way, when his car went in front of hers. Renee furrowed her eyebrows gently and stuck her tongue out at him as they continued to play their favorite video game.
Renee bounced up and down in triumph as her screen said, "PLAYER TWO WINS!" She smiled at Mark's poutiness and crossed her arms. "You baby," she teased, giggling.
"You're going to pay," Mark darkly said. He jumped and swooped her up in his arms. He grinned when she began to struggle. "Teehee."
Renee growled under breath, waving her arms and legs wildly around them. "Put me down, you ass!" she screamed, kicking him. Mark muffled a groan and threw her on his bed. "Jerk!" she yelled at him, pointing her finger at him and crawling away when his fingers came out. He grabbed her by the waist and ticked her sides. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Mark pressed his body against hers and tickled, and tickled and tickled. "Stop," she breathless, regaining her self-control and shoved him away with her hands. Mark grabbed her wrists and held them down to his pillows; he leaned in and kissed her cheek. "Augh-gross!" she laughed out, sarcastically wiping it with her shoulder. "Sick, sick!"
Mark smirked, kissing her neck and collar bone. "God," he breathed against her soft tanned skin. "I love it when you're so defenseless like this." He pulled his head inches away and brushed his nose with hers.
"Har, har," she groaned, her body squirming as his soft lips began sucking. "Mark, let go of me!" she abruptly shouted, cursing him and his strong ways. "Oh," gasp, "my God!"
Mark let her wrists go, forgetting all about everything but the softness of her, and trailed his fingers along the hem of shirt. He looked up at her, innocently and began lifting it…. *
I don't care what they say
Don't care what they do
I don't care what they think
I'm gonna love you for the rest of my life
Don't they know
True love never dies
I promise to love you for the rest of my life
Just go, Renee, stop being such a wimp. Twiddling her thumbs, her nervous habit, she stood in the aisle of the rows of seats filled with sad looking people. Mark wouldn't want you to be afraid, to be afraid of him. She looked down at the dead red roses, and one fake rose, that she clutched in her hand. The ones he gave to her on her seventeenth birthday. The fake rose exemplified the way he would love her forever.
Smiling, she touched the fake, perfect rose with her fingertip and continued on slowly walking to where her one-and-only lay. She stopped short, right when she could the tip of his straight nose. Renee felt a hand on her left shoulder and turned.
Dana smiled softly at her, and pushed her. "He's waiting," she said, nodding to the boy. "I-" "Go."
Sighing, Renee held the roses in her hand and walked up there. "Hi," she swallowed when her voice cracked. "Um, these are for you." She bit her bottom lip as she slid the roses beside his picture, the picture she picked out for him. She sniffed, holding her tissue to her nose, as she looked silently at his closed eyes and beautiful face. With her hands shaky, she reached to brush the hair out of his, then stopped and taked her hand back, wondering if they were allowed to do that.
Renee let go of a breathe that she never knew she was holding and bit her lip as her tears began to run down her cheeks for the 100th time.
Life goes on that's what they say
Time will heal all your pain away
But I feel, feel so alone and
Now you're gone how can I live on
* The whole crowd's cheers were growing by the second as the time ticked and ticked. "GO MARK!" Renee shouted, bouncing in her seat and waving her banner, the one she made herself with his name in big letters, frantically. She gave him a big, wide grin as he looked up to her for a moment to flash her his sweet smile and back to his game. "GO MARK!" she screamed once more before plopping in her seat next to Allie.
"Girl, you are so weird," she deliberated. She grinned at her friend when she just cracked a smile and roared, getting up from her seat, with the crowd. "Mark is so good at b-ball."
"Isn't he?" she asked, smiling. "Well, he wouldn't be playing if he wasn't, right?"
"Yup."
Mark laughed at Renee's support. "Man, your girlfriend is hilarious," Carl laughed out as he and Mark watched Renee jump up and down in excitement. "Look at her."
Mark shook his head, shoving him and running down the court.
After the game, Renee ran down the steps, eager to get to Mark. She giggled and smiled brightly when she saw him standing beside the door. "Oh my GOD!" Renee screamed jumping into Mark's widened arms and giggled when he twirled her around. "You played SO good tonight!" she congratulated him, and kissed him on the lips.
"Why thank you, my supporter," he replied, flattered. "All gratitude goes out to you, my lady. Just seeing you up there, bouncing up and down and going crazy just made me want to win, for you."
"For me?" Renee inquired, girlishly. He nodded and she giggled.
He kissed her lips and said, for the first time for as long as they have been dating, "I love you," softly.
Renee bit her lip. "Really?" she asked.
"Yes. I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you… I love you, Renee Sanchez." Their foreheads touched.
"I love you too, mister." *

One year later.
"… and I met a boy," Renee told Mark; where she was sitting in front of his grave stone their fake rose above his name. "His name is Alex and he's a doctor." She sighed, rubbing her hands on her knees. "Allie told me to move on, you know? But, I know you want me too, I know you don't want me to live alone… so, I'm just telling you I found someone. Not someone better than you. That can never be, Mark. Just somebody for me to love and for them to love me back." She smiled sadly. "Alex wants to meet you; he was suggesting he come today with me. But then he got a call of emergency from the hospital. I showed him our old and new picture album. The new picture album was of us, in our high school… he helped me decorate the last page and it was pretty well done."
"But, anyway, I'll come visit you everyday. I've gotten a job, as a photographer and I have you to thank because you were the one always telling me to find my destiny. Well, I have so much to say that I don't even know what to say first."
"I just want so say I'll love you for the rest of my life, even though you're gone, even though I won't been seeing you until the day my day comes, or even though I get married to a different someone. I will always have you in my heart."
She smiled, running her hand across his name and her own sentence that Mrs. Alcester said she could add.
Mark Jam Alcester
We will miss you, for the rest of your lives.
