~Dakota's POV~

I kept on running into the bars, trying to get out of this cell. What was I doing here? I didn't do anything, but was prostitution such a horrible thing? It was the way I learned to live. My mom did it and still did, so why was I even here? My name is Dakota Marie Cortez. I sighed as I slid down the wall of my cell. I then smiled as I saw the sexy man walk in. How good he looked in that police uniform. I was wearing an orange jumpsuit. I then looked in his direction and winked at him.

"Hold on a sec," he said as he walked over to me, "What's your name?"

"Dakota Marie Cortez," I replied simply.

"Well, Ms. Cortez..." he started but I cut him off.

"You can call me Dakota," I answered briefly.

"Anyways, wink at me or any sexual movement, and you are in for it," he said and turned back to his friends.

"Darn, such a cutie too," I said as he walked back to the other police officers.

~Scott's POV~

Damnit! Why do all the gorgeous and sexy women I like get arrested? Hmm, I could have fun with Dakota tonight. I do have a late shift tonight and since she is a prostitute, she shouldn't mind or will she? I then looked in her direction and saw Dakota sitting on her bed, looking down at her feet. I grinned as I bit my lip, wanting her, but I could wait all night long if I had to or even a year. I was a single guy and was on the prowl.

"Lt. Andrews?"

I then turned around as I saw my best friend, Cheyenne Locks. She had mid- length brown, wavy, hair, green eyes and she stood at 5'8. Cheyenne took off her police cap and looked at me.

"Yeah?" I asked looking at her.

"Late shift again tonight?" she asked me and smiled.

"Of course! All week actually," I said as I laughed.

"Interesting," she laughed as she walked away.

I then looked to Dakota and she didn't look so good. I then put my gun and hat down on my desk and walked over to her. She looked up into my eyes. Her mouth was dry and I could tell that she hadn't been eating.

"Mrs. Cortez, are you hungry?" I asked gently.

Dakota just nodded her head.

"All right, when the cops leave, I'll give you my lunch," I said and with that, I walked back to my desk.

~Dakota's POV~

I sighed as I watched him walk from me to his desk. Why is he being so nice to me? Oh well, at least I will get some food. I haven't eaten in over a month and god, I am starving. I then saw some police officers leave.

"Scott, watch her. She's dangerous!" One of the cops replied.

~Scott's POV~

I just shook my head as I got out a paper bag from my drawer. I shut the drawer as I saw everyone was gone. I then stood up and walked to her as I took out a burger and fries and handed her a drink.

"Here, take it. Just eat and don't bother me," I said as I put it on the floor in front of her cell and sighed as I kept on getting phone calls.

Every so often I looked at her. Suddenly, it got awfully hot and I stared at her fanning herself with the bag. I just laughed and unbuttoned my shirt and slipped it off as I wore a tank top. Dakota then fell on the bed as she wiped the sweat from her forehead with the bag.

"Damn, you are crazy," I said laughing.

"How am I crazy? It's hot in here!" she spat at me, "Is it always like this?"

"God damn just take off the jumpsuit. Under your bed, there are some orange shorts and a tank top," I said pointing under bed.

~Dakota~

I then started to unbutton my jumpsuit. Once the jumpsuit was off, I just looked at all the scars on my body. I then saw Lt. Andrews look at me and I, of course gasped.

"Don't look at me!" I whimpered running my fingers over the scars and bruises.

~Scott's POV~

I couldn't help but look at her. Where did the bruises and scars come from? I had no idea that her body was just filled with pain and I knew that deep down inside that she wanted to get out. I then walked over to her cell and unlocked it as I walked up to her.

"Oh my god! Who did this to you?" I asked concerned.

"Uh, no one...I fell..." she replied as she looked away.

"Dakota...you did not. I know that these are beatings! Who did this to you?" I asked once again.

Dakota just sighed as she looked at him.

"My-my mother...and her...boy..friend..." she said softly, holding in her tears.

"You are not going back there," I said as I looked at her.

She just ignored me as she slipped on the white tank top and the shorts.

"Are you going to arrest my mother and her boyfriend?" Dakota asked as she sat down on the bed.

I just nodded as I went out and shut the cell. I then locked it as I made a few calls. I still couldn't believe my eyes. Why would someone do something like that? Dakota was such a beautiful girl and she didn't know what to do with herself. I then grabbed his keys as Officer Lock came in. I grabbed my hat and put it on as she came up to me.

"Can you watch Dakota for a while?" I asked looking to her.

"Sure."

"Thanks hon," I said as I kissed her cheek and left.

~Cheyenne's POV~

I looked at the prisoner as I sat down at my desk. I had just broken up with my fiancee because he was cheating on me and he had the nerve to call me three times already. What an asshole!

"Boyfriend problems?" Dakota asked softly.

"It's none of your business!" I spat as I stared at her.

"Sorry," Dakota said softly.

~Dakota's POV~

I just sat at my bed as I looked outside through the bars. I just looked at my scars, thinking just maybe my scars might go away. I just didn't understand Lt. Andrews. He was different than the other people I met and way different than the cops here too. He sure was special but I just knew that I would never find a right guy for me. Suddenly, I heard screaming and I went to the bars and I saw Lt. Andrews come in with...MY MOM? How did he find her? Roughly, he pushed her against the wall, checking to see if she had anything illegal on her.

"Oh yeah, you know how I like it!" she grinned.

"Yeah! I would like it if you shut up!" he spat, getting upset at the sight of her.

I continued to watch Lt. Andrews search her body and he found some crack. He then pushed her against the bars of my cell and she groaned. She then saw me.

"My lovely daughter...now we can be together..."

"Like hell we are! I hate you!" Dakota said as she looked out the window and sighed.

"Dakota, don't worry. You'll be away from her. She is going to the jail in Texas, or I am going to try my best to send her there," Lt. Andrews said as he looked into her eyes.

I then watched one of the police officers take my mom away, along with her boyfriend. Scott then looked at me, pulling a chair from the corner next to my cell.

"You are probably wondering how I got her so quickly, right?"

"Yeah, I was actually thinking that," I said with a small smile.

"Well, I called the Justice of Peace to get a warrant because I'd have to get a warrant to check out the situation," he said as he looked at her.

"Oh, I never knew you had to do that," I said as I crossed my legs.

"Yeah, if you want to check things out, you have to have a warrant or you can't do jack," he said with a chuckle.

"So, um, how did you catch her?" I asked, still wondering how he got my mom.

"For the past couple of days, I've been undercover, just watching your mom, selling meth, as well as her boyfriend."

"Uh huh..."

"Well, your mom tried to sell me some, even though I didn't want any meth. Something seriously was wrong with her that day," he replied as he shook his head.

"Yeah," I said, agreeing with him.

"When she wouldn't stop, I took my actions, showing her my badge, and of course the warrant. She went crazy so I had Officer Escalante help me contain her..."

"She was that out of control?" I asked in shock.

"Yeah, she was screaming and kicking all over the place," he said as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Wow," I said in complete shock.

"Once, I got in the building, I saw stashes and stashes of cocaine, marijuana, pcp, and mesh in the back room, along with some money," he said as he looked at her, "She denied she didn't do any of it..." he chuckled.

"I can't believe she lied."

"Yeah and then her obnoxious boyfriend came in," he said seriously, "I saw him with money and of course some meth. He tried to get away from me but that didn't work."

"So, here I am," he said with a grin, "but look, I got to get back to work."

"No problem," I said with a smile that could make any guy's heart warm.

With that, he walked back to his desk.
