Author's Note: this is one of my friend's poems. She wanted to see what everyone thought of it, so here it is. If anyone gets offended by this poem, it was not intentional. It's her feelings on paper. See it however you may, but please take into consideration that everyone has their own opinion which they should and CAN base on specific reasons. So, people who want to flame, I ask that you at least provide a reason. It's helpful to the writer/poet. Also, everything here is my friend's. Do not steal. That's just not cool. Thanks and please read and review!

Innocent Blindness
I want to play.
But no one will.
Maybe they're tired.
I see two kids chasing each other.
The rest of them look at me funnily.
I can't figure out why.
Some start walking over and said, "Retard."
It was a wonder to me how everyone knew
my nickname.
It started in second grade.
I became shy and blushed, whispering a "Hi."
They started laughing.
Everyone did like I'd told a joke.
I didn't get it.
But it made me feel...happy.
I went home.
Told Mommy everything!
How the kids knew my nickname,
How they wanted to play but were tired,
And how I made them laugh.
I told Mommy the joke.
She didn't laugh.
She cried..
She hugged me, saying, "It's okay."
What did I do wrong?
