Tomorrow
Staring into still photos
Trying to make you come alive
Holding onto empty memories
Trying to make you human again before my eyes
Picking up the pieces of my shattered reality
Incisions from the shards bleed my soul through the tears
Every morning another continuation of this nightmare
Though you say not a word to me
You have my undivided attention
Your image teases my eyelids
Your voice painted in my ears
Your face haunting my soul
Your smile driving me on to see tomorrow
My screams of today mingled with yours of yesterday
My tears of forever mixed yours of never
Now time moves so slow and yet so fast
Leaving me in the aftermath of what has already gone by
Trapping me in it's sluggish limp of what is
The longest days of my life coming upon me
As others around speed through their days that are not long enough
How this is like a dream
Having a knowledge of a great burden
Seeing others carry on so ordinarily
Feeling so much older and wiser
And at the same time
Younger and stupid
Older in being tied down with the hardest facts of life
Wiser in being able to handle them
Younger in my inexperience with these matters
Stupid in my confusion of why it has to happen
While other see the world in simple, easy black and white
I see it in painful, difficult color
I know it's unfair, that I shouldn't have to deal with this
I also know that life in never fair
That life doesn't spare the young and the naïve
It takes who it pleases and mocks the lives it shatters
As different as I felt before
You make me feel even more so
Partially the fact I didn't get to say good-bye
You left me so fast that I didn't even know
But know I will never let your memory go
If I can't see you before my eyes
I'll see you in my words, my arts, my music
In the eyes of others I love
In the most gorgeous sunset
In the loneliest night
In the moments you never got to experience
In the sights you never got to see
I'll see you when I need it most
You were that way in life
There for me when you knew it meant the most
So you'll continue to be so after your gone
I'll see you again someday, some life, somewhere
It may take so long that it seems forever.
But nothing last forever,
Including life, death, happiness, sorrow or separation
So no matter how deep in despair I may be
No matter how dark life seems and there's no way out
I can't wait to see tomorrow, because I know one of those tomorrow's
You'll be waiting there
