BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Emily's alarm clock shattered her sleep with a disquieting eruption. She dragged herself out of bed mumbling curses under her breath until she could trip the switch to make it stop. On her way back to the bed she caught her reflection in the mirror. She was wearing a tight fitting t-shirt and her brother's boxers; her hair splayed around her shoulders.
Emily was pretty in an unconventional way. She had loud green eyes and freckles over the bridge of her nose. She was heavy if not fat, but not morbidly so. Like a plus size super model she sashayed up to her mirror making a runway out of it. "This," She thought out loud to herself, "is definitely worth waking up for." She proceeded to grab a hairbrush and began taming the beast.
It was in mid-stroke when she remembered what had put her in such a good mood. Aaron. Aaron was a drummer at her school. They weren't what you would call friends, more like acquaintances or nod-at-you-in-the-hall- on-occasion buddies. Aaron was new, he had just moved to TN from California. Why anyone would make that move is hard to say but there he was, case in point. It struck her as being an odd dream, they had been in the woods and he had taken off his shirt then they had lain together. Okay so it might not have been to terribly odd of a dream for a hormonal teenager, but I suppose the odd part was that it was Aaron. Emily had never liked Aaron before, why the sudden change of heart? Either way it was a good dream and she would be hard pressed to just dismiss it even if she wanted too. At that precise moment though she had to refocus her thoughts to getting ready to catch the bus for school. _
Aaron woke up do to the water droplets on his forehead. "Where am I?" he thought. He looked around wildly his curly tangle of hair bouncing with each move. He looked down at himself and took in his naked body marred with scratches and old scars. Aaron winced as a torrent of memories flooded him. The moon, he had forgotten. He had never forgotten before; he was getting careless, too comfortable. Had Jesse seen? Aaron panicked picking himself up. Jesse was Aaron's best friend in the world, and he had often debated telling him about his lycanthrope heritage, not like this obviously, he would never have told him like this. As the shadows began to lift, Aaron recognized the forest behind Jesse's house. Jesse would be leaving for school soon, and Aaron would have to break in and borrow some clothes. Then he would call his grandpa to take him home. "No use going to school today", he concluded, "It's that time of the month." _
Jesse shrugged the door to the band room open. Jesse was built like a punk rocker, tall and lean with a pale complexion and shaggy tousled hair. He was cocky and swaggered with the air of a lion in his Pride, through the crowded room. "Okay focus Jesse boy he winked at some freshmen girls what happened last night? We were practicing, and Aaron started having a seizure? Didn't look like a seizure. I ran to call an cried out.a window shattered.I ran to him, he was gone."
Jesse had wrapped his arm around his girlfriend like he was supposed to and nodded every now and again as he felt was necessary. Jesse operated like a machine coasting through the day with the air of a pneumatic wind tunnel. "Smile at her, wave at him, blow kisses to that group". Emily came bounding up to him. "why the hell is she always so hyper?"
" Hi-ee Jesse."
"Hey"
"Umm you're really hot, could you give me a ride home?"
"Sorry I'm busy, gotta go to Aaron's after school"
" I could come with, and then you could drop me off!" "couldn't she take a hint?
"Okay, sure"
Emily skipped away and Jesse detached himself from the world again.
