Emily woke up and saw the moonbeams falling across the car. Her head hurt like a that she would know. Jesse was beside her laid out like a marionette with its strings cut. Emily paused as she tried to think of what to do. She shook Jesse, gently at first, then, when he didn't move, harder and harder like a bad babysitter to a small child. Emily worried that he might slip into a coma, "Should I move him? Where would I move him? Could I send his body into shock?" Emily proceeded to smack her forehead in the universal sign of desperation. "I know, I'll call for help!" Emily pulled out her phone and sighed resignedly, there was no signal and she guessed she would just have to drive them out of there. She unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car. Jesse's door opened easily and she put her hands under his armpits attempting to hoist him up. She pulled and pulled but the car wouldn't let him go. "Oh my God he's stuck!" Emily began to panic when she realized his seat belt was still on. "Stupid, Stupid, Stupid", She leaned over to unbuckle him and he fell on to her considerably heavier than he looked. She pulled him out of the car and landed him safely on the ground. The breeze caught in her hair and tangled it, disorienting her and making her loose her balance, dropping them both. "Well isn't this just peachy", she said to no one in particular.

The wind rustled Aaron's fur and he let out a howl. He was hungry and he smelled pepper.

Emily's ears pricked when she heard the howl. "Faster", she thought, "I have to get us out of here. It's dark, where in the middle of the woods, and now something is howling at me." She pushed Jesse into her seat and buckled him up. Takings care not to shut any of his limbs in the door she gently closed it and turned around.

"Howwllll", she shuddered when she heard the second howl much closer. She raced back to the driver's side. She could hear the animal bearing down on her. She jumped in and slammed the car door catching her hair in it. Emily through the door open and flipped her hair to the other side, she struggled to pull the door shut again but something was lunging through the door. It scratched and bit her but backed off when she forced the door on it. She put the car in reverse and then turned up the hill back onto the road. Back towards home.

"What the hell was that?" Emily intended on driving them to her house and to seek help from there but her thoughts were swimming and the road lines were blurring. The last thing Emily remembered before she passed out was a faint smell of pepper.
