Yester year's treasures

You lay and waited
Unpolished and fading
In the junk draw of my mind
Until on random daydreams you are found

I used to like to play with toys
Just as I did with you
Fun at first
But the flare didn't last

I reminisce on what was had
Again holding you in love's embrace
Then the emotional nova burns out
So you are casually replaced
But my frolicking fantasy finds
Bubble wrap to pop and stay you safe

I was crazy for, in and around you
Insanity lost then lucidity found
In the forgotten corners of my mind
Yester year's treasures I hide
