The Castle
Long ago there loomed a great castle
Untouchable,
Endless.
On a ridge like a sastruga, she stood
Resplendent,
Sublime.
But truth showed her to be
Broken,
Scarred.
Besieged by time, and icy winds
Decaying,
Waning.
In the setting of the sun, it was
On fire,
A sacrifice.
Rolling hills of heather and trees
Consumed it,
Destroyed it.
The desolate castle has evanesced
Forever,
And ever.
