Letters to a Soldier
My words are frozen,
Pardon me.
My letters don't go,
I'm so sorry.
I've started each one,
With the best of intentions,
But something always happens.
So many preventions.
Jotting down words,
I choke out some feeling.
The taste of my tears,
Always leaves me reeling.
I don't understand,
What I need to do.
I miss your guidance and strength,
It always saw me through.
I miss your laugh.
I miss your smile.
You made me so happy,
If only for a while.
Yet, here I am,
And still, I pray,
For your safe return,
Each and every day.
Black ink,
Is smeared,
Another ugly head,
Is reared.
I'm not supposed,
To feel like this.
Such torturous binding,
Emotional un-bliss.
The pen quietly falls,
From my trembling hand.
This definitely is not,
What I had planned.
Still you must know,
That I do pray,
And my heart hopes,
That I will see you again, one day.
