A/n- Revised and understandable now, hope you enjoy! R/R please
Walking through the frosty forest late at night Raven approached her destination, a tiny cottage full of friends that were partying for weekend. There was no point to these engagements just being around other classmates that respected you. She pulled the unlocked door open and peered into the empty space.
This was usual, no one in her clique was punctual they just went with the flow. Raven set down her bag favors of assorted drinks complete with a bag of pretzels on a large oak table, it was probably stolen like the rest of the furniture but no one ever said so. The drinks she had brought were of the non-alcoholic kind since her buddies would probably bring enough of that.
It was a nice set up in Apple Valley, Mississippi even though it was snore town not to mention a little creepy. Moving to this only one bowling alley town was such a drag. Her father had died in a car accident and her mother had gone crazy and tried to murder the driver because she said it was part of a government conspiracy. No charges were given because she was drunk at the time. But after that she started using meth and God knows what, then her dad's ex-girlfriend (who Raven had been staying with) mysteriously shot herself in the face all fingers pointed towards her mother.
Thankfully, her lawyers had pleaded temporary insanity and got 5 years off her original life sentence. It had been almost a year since she moved to the sleepy town. She knew it was boring but it was better than back in California where having a sick mother in jail wasn't an invitation to high social status. This lowered her from a geek to loner in less than twenty- four hours. She had regained her hope when a distant cousin of her mom's second uncle agreed to take her in until she was 18.
She was now seventeen, she rarely went out and was never invited anywhere because she didn't drink. This was probably due to her mother going bonkers. It was her own personal goal to always stay sober and she kept true to herself.
The creaky door opened and in walked her three new friends Joann, Angelia, and Kevin. Joann was the prime class party girl; if there was a party she was first in line to sneak a peek. While Angelia was the complete opposite, sometimes she would look at Raven and turn cold then smile and go along with the conversation. This hate was probably due to the attentive stare she usually received from Kevin. Kevin rarely spoke and would always be wondering around the school saying he searching for an answer. This was of course bull because everyone knew he was a class-a-phobic.
Honestly what student wasn't afraid of cold classrooms and corrupting teachers?
"Hey Ray," Joann said with a thick sickliness, "so you're parents think you're at my house for the weekend?"
"I did what you said Joe," Raven exaggerated the 'Joe' name since she hated being called Ray. It was like being called a plumber with no talent.
"Don't be snippy newbie," Joann said sweetly has she sat her non-virgin drinks on the table along side Raven's belongings. She brought a bottle of Jack Daniels to make things interesting.
Silence consumed the dull air as Raven stood awkwardly waiting for the party or whatever to begin. She was trying to figure out something to witty to say but she thought of nothing so she chose to sit down on one of the dusty couches in the corner. Kevin followed her.
"So, this is what three people do on a cold Saturday night here?" it was subtle question because she had absolutely no idea what they did in their free time. Besides class all she knew is they hung out and never invited her until yesterday.
At first she was hesitant to go because of the town's history. There was a crime streak through town where tons of people had been murdered or ended up missing, but that was like back in the eighties. What was it like twenty years since any murder had taken place?
"Well, tonight is special." Angelia said as she plopped down on the floor, which was covered with dirt and probably dead things. "Tonight you become a true member of our club."
This was strange since the three never had mentioned they were a club in the first place.
"What kind of club exactly? Because if you mean like a drinking club I'm not-" Kevin cut her off abruptly looking into her eyes.
"It's noting like that, see with you here we can officially become a club."
"What am I going to be a representative or something?" She laughed because of uneasy felling that was in the atmosphere.
"If you say so," Angelia replied slowly letting her evilness seep through.
Raven looked across the room at Joann pulling out a sharp butcher knife from her bag of goodies.
"It's a cutting club?" Raven was playing dumb not wanting to believe her intuition.
"You can say that too," Angelia said letting the words roll off her tongue. She stood slowly and walked toward Raven who back up a step. She pulled out some duct tape from her Gucci purse. Whatever game these people wanted to play she wasn't interested.
This would've been the opportune moment to run away like a smart person however Kevin grabbed her as she stood up to leave. Kevin was bulky and taller than she was so he easily held her in one place.
"I knew you were perfect for this seeing as you come from a particular background." Joann said calmly.
"Excuse me? What the hell are you talking about?" Raven screamed as she started to become frantic in the older boy's arms. "Let me go, I never did anything to deserve this!"
"Oh well if you look at it way I guess not." Angelia said while trailing her index finger along the knife.
"Then why are doing this?" She wanted to waste time to order to think up a plan.
"Well it started even before you came to town about ten years ago," Angelia nodded at Joann's words, "there was this awesome club that killed a girl. On the outside she seemed innocent but she possessed a demon in her. Before it could be like, unleashed a brave group of teenagers killed it. They knew they did the right thing because they were never caught. We," she motioned around the room, "are the last true believers. We knew it you because you possess the mark." Joann moved in closer to Raven's face and she touched the light skinned birthmark above her left ear.
"It's been twenty years and now the demon as come back again and it chose you. We also knew it was you when we found out your father had died and your mother had gone crazy." Angelia smiled.
"That had nothing to do with me." Raven explained trying to struggle but the grasp tightened. "She needed help-"
"Oh really? Tell us Raven did you like your father?" Angelia's eyes were so cold it could freeze hell.
"Well, every parent relationship as its difficulties." She didn't want them to know that she despised him for leaving her family to try and start another one with his girlfriend leaving Raven with her mother.
"Oh be honest sweetness." Kevin purred into her ear, "We know all about your home life, you see I'm an office aide and when the principal left to take a smoke break and I went through your file. I hope you don't mind."
The air was sucked out of her and she couldn't react when if she wanted to.
"You think it was a coincidence your mother went crazy? Your demon made her kill your father's lover." Angelia said proudly as if she was writing an award worthy biography.
"Say it's true; say I have a demon in me. Why wouldn't I be all the way out in California instead of here?" Raven said boldly.
"We thought of that, you see your demon was trying to confuse us. A demon's a demon for matter where they live. But we saw through your stupid little façade and saw you for what you really are." On the last word Joann pressed the knife to her throat her bouncy blond hair falling into her eyes.
"Okay, what if the people who murdered that girl ten years age later felt guilt when they realized they were, I don't know crazy. What if they found out they accidentally killed a human. Even so, aren't I at least half human?" Raven was desperate for time and Kevin showed no sign of becoming weaker.
"I'm optimistic; I only see your half demon." Joann pressed forward and pointed the tip of the sharpened knife to her cheek causing blood to trickle down.
"You ever stop to think you three are the demons?" Raven said as she left her last thought hanging in the air.
"No not really," the whisper hung in the air as she drifted out of conciseness. She felt the blood and heard a scream then blacked out before she could see what had happened.
Her body lay on my comfy bed. Her now fire red hair caressed her innocent face. Yes, she was a demon but she knew nothing of that side, yet.
But she would know her fate, tricking the other two into becoming the sacrifices had been to easy and boring. There was no thrill, no challenge. But with Raven they would seek out challenges and find their true meaning of existence.
True, it would take a few years to get her to fully want the darkness of desire and need. But he was patient. It would be a pain in the morning to explain who he really was. How he was not just a classmate or even a normal teenager. He was never Kevin.
Kevin, ugh, such a weak name, unlike his true name William. Strong yes, sexy but of course! Yes, this relationship was meant to be. He could feel her power while holding her in the cabin; it was then that he was certain she was his mate.
He crossed the cheap hotel carpeted floor and lay next to her. His brought his face close to hers and slowly licked the blood off her left cheek. Their lives together were going to be sweet and long but most of all memorable.
