Chapter 9:
Later on, as I was laying there looking up at the stars, I thought to myself that the place I now lived in was one of them. It wasn't till then I realized how high up it really was. I looked around. Everyone else seemed to be sleeping, but I knew that Lutearine was still up for some reason. But I still didn't speak to him as I walked off. Because I knew that he would follow me anyway. Besides I had a little fun planned.
I'd been walking for about 10 minutes when I decided to just sit down. I sat there, drawing in the dirt with my finger. I knew it would take him a bit to find me. Seeing how I'd started running at that point. I'd messed up on the drawing a little, so I brushed it out and blew away some of the dust. As I did that though, the drawing glowed. I backed up slightly. But the more I stared at it the brighter it got.
I suddenly relaxed, and the glowing stopped. I sighed happy that was over. There were enough weird things going on with me today, for something to be added on. Just as I thought that though, I screamed, it felt like my blood had froze. Suddenly, I burst into flames. But my skin wasn't boiling or pealing it wasn't even hot anymore. I was just on fire. My hair was no longer the same. It was now gold with two black bangs. I was terrified. Then I looked down and saw that my clothes had changed as well. No longer was I wearing a baggy shirt and ripped jeans, but I was now in long sleeved butterfly shirt that was a V-neck and stopped a few inches below my breasts, and also a short silk skirt. That flowed easily with each movement. I still had the same tight knee high boots on though.
I closed my eyes. I wanted the flame to stop. And then as I thought that, just like that the sensation of the flames was gone. So when I opened my eyes and saw the flame was gone I wasn't shocked at all. I sighed. Then turned around to walk back to camp, and rammed straight into Lutearine. He caught me before I could hit the ground though.
"Sorry, Arin..." I laughed as he helped me up. I stopped dead though. Arin? Why did I just call him Arin? I looked up at him. The faces flashed back and forth in my mind. Arin sounded just like... "Darin?" I whispered.
He stared at me. Then let my hand go. "Hi Kaya." he whispered back. Suddenly all these memories came rushing back of him. His long, brownish blond hair, and those gorgeous hazel, green eyes. He and I playing together, when we were little, and our first kiss, when I was only four years old. My guess that he had either been five or six. Then there was running and me being carried away. Screaming and kicking for Arin.
Arin ran after me and got in the middle of something. He was going to die if it touched him. I broke free and ran at him. Pushing him out the way as everything went dark.
I didn't understand. What had brought on that kiss? Why had I was I being carried away? What had hit me? And what had happened after that?
"There was something coming. Most believe it was a war, and that you were the cause of it." Arin said sitting down on the ground.
"What... Why did people think that?" I asked sitting down next to him. "I mean what was so special about me?" I asked. He looked at me like I was stupid.
"Uh- maybe it was because your undying charm." he said sarcastically. I glared at him. "You were the future queen, duh." he said. An embarrassed smile slid across my face. He just rolled his eyes. "Most thought, that who ever was coming after you had figured out that it would be easier to get rid of the future queen then the present one." He said. "And when your mother heard that, she went into over protective mode. You were barely allowed out of the house unless someone was there to guard you." He sighed. "It was times like those I had wished you weren't so hard headed." he whispered.
I looked at him in question. "Why? What happened then?" I asked.
"You had the idea to sneak out and go play when no one was looking one day. So me, you, Ally and Ellis all snuck out." He said. I smiled; I could imagine me saying something like that. "Well me and you were it and were looking for the others a little while after that they came to get you. You were screaming as they carried you away. I ran after you, but stopped dead when I saw these other things run towards you from the other direction.
They were shooting fire at us, and one was coming at me. When it just stopped dead, it literally froze in midair. You came out of nowhere and pushed me down as the ball exploded. No one knew why the ball of flame had down that. But the full force of the explosion had hit you, and sent you flying through the air." He paused and pushed down my boot leg some. Showing me the scar on my knee.
"You don't remember getting that do you?" he asked me. I shook my head no. "I figured. You lost your memory during the blast. But that day I learnt how to fly. People say that it was amazing that someone that young could do that. But the sight of you going through the air like that just clear out all thoughts. I grabbed you and turned you so when we landed, I got most of the cuts and bruises. Your leg hit a tree root and that's how you got that." He said point at my scar. "I may have learnt how to fly quickly, but I still needed to work on my landing." He smiled. I smiled back. But you still saved my life. I thought.
"Is that why you were always there when I fell in school, and why you were then there to catch me when I fell out the door when we first got here?" He nodded. I nodded too. "Thank you... for being there to catch me when I fell. I hope you're there most times." I whispered smiling, then stopped and frowned.
"Why didn't you mention that you kissed me?" I snapped. His head snapped up. Looking at me wide-eyed. "Well?" He got up suddenly.
"We should get back. It's going to be light soon." He said walking away. I stood and ran after him. Standing in front of him. "Move, Kaya." He said.
"Not until you answer me, damn it!" I yelled. He stared at me. Then sighed and picked me up. "Put me the hell down!" I yelled.
"Nope, you'll just stand in my way again." He said bouncing me slightly. "Also this way, I don't have to answer my question." he said simply.
"Want to bet?" I said and flipped my legs over and around so I was wrapped around his waist. Then threw him. He was little more prepared for that then I thought though.
He landed on the ground and stood up quickly. "Still as violent as you used to be..." He laughed. Then ran at me...
