Faerie Magic
Backstage I could hear girls giggling, muffled, blaring music,
Myself breathing nervously, and fresh.
My performance was next!
I scurried to the wings of the stage, fluffing out my tutu,
Extending my high-arched feet,
Checking to see if the crown of flowers on my head was secure.
I whispered to myself 1...2...3 and stepped gracefully
Onto the stage.
The crowd went silent, in awe of my beautiful, yet simple, costume.
The classical music began as I disappeared into
My own world.
I felt like a glittering and lyrical faerie,
Fluttering my feet like a butterfly against the harsh ground.
Stage lights blinded my eyes with brightness.
The pungent leather of my pointe shoes filled my nostrils - creating their
magic.
I felt intoxicated, irresistible and in harmony,
The finale was nearing.
I held a stunning pose, blissful, as I flittered into my closing stance.
The crowd of obsure images roared with applause,
As I smiled to myself.
Such an adrenalin rush!
It made my heart beat rapidly.
I curtsied, glided off the stage,
Precise, Pure and Proud.
