"Minu, get up." my mom said as she knocked on the door. Normally I'd ask her not to call me Minu, but I wasn't awake yet.

"What time is it?" I asked half awake.

"Six thirty." She answered from the end of the hall.

"Oh god! I'm ganna be late!" I brushed my teeth, and washed my face really fast. Then I grabbed a shirt from my dresser and tried to put on my jeans while going down stairs. I tripped, but grabbed on the balustrade before falling. I buttoned my pants in he kitchen and ran out. Then I came back in, grabbed my backpack, and an apple, and left again.

It takes about fifteen to twenty minutes to walk to school. About five minutes of walking, I saw Sara coming out of her house. We've been friends since she moved to her house. We met when we were swimming in the river. There's a river that goes through town, I live on it. So does Sara.

"Hey Sara!" I said

"Hey Minnie." Sara said. "Ya think Nina already lift or do you think she's ganna be late?

"I don't know. Nina's been pretty unpredictable lately."

"Seriously, one day she's late, the next day she's actually early."

"Hey guys." both Sara and I turned to see Nina on a bike. Nina, who also lives next to the river, lives the farthest away from school out of the three of us.

"What are you doing?" Sara and I asked in unison.

"What does it look like? Riding a bike. It's much faster than walking."

"Well then go ahead, go to school, you're much faster than us." I said.

"Okay, I'll see ya at school." She rode towards school, than turned around. "Do you really think I'd leave ya here?" we talked as we went to school. That day, I didn't have any classes with either Sara or Nina. But, like everyday, we ate together.

"I have to not like Ben, I really like him." Sara said.

"Sara I like you like this." I said laughing.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because I never see you like this, liking a guy soooooooo. much. Normally I'm the one saying those things. You're fun like this."

"Whatever. Now help me god damn it!" Sara was glaring at me now.

"What am I supposed to do? You want me to make you not like him?"

"Get him to like me. You've known him forever, you can do it."

"You've know him for along time too."

"Not as long as you." At this point, Nina was laughing.

"I can't tell him to go out with you, and boom!"

"Please, do something."

"I'll see what I can do, but I'm not promising anything!"

"Thank you! So much! I love you." Sara said excited.

"I know you love me, you don't have to tell me." Sara just rolled her eyes when I said that.

After lunch, I had a bunch of boring classes, and then it was time to leave. Today was surprisingly warm for spring. I wanted to go home, but my mom made me start my homework. Later, I swam to Ben's house. His house was between Nina's and my house, but across the river.

"Hey Ben!" I said. He jerked then turned to look at me.

"God min! Do you have to scare me like that?"

"Gees! I wasn't trying to. Are you ganna swim?

"In a sec. Jon and I are working on our English paper."

"The one that was due today?"

"Shh! We're almost done."

"Fine. I'm goin' into your house, you want anything?"

"No, Jon's getting some food now."

"Okay, whatever. Hey, did I leave-"

"Your CDs are on my dresser waiting to be taken home."

"Thanks Ben. There ganna have to stay here just a little longer. I can't take them home and swim at the same time."

"That's fine." Jon had come from the kitchen, "hey Jon, what did ya bring?"

"Oreos, Doritos, and Sodaos." He tried to rhyme soda with Oreos and Doritos. "Hey min."

"Hi Jon. Ben, I'll be back, try to finish soon." I saw the smiles on their face. "I mean the finish the paper soon, not the food." I knew how Ben and Jon's brains worked. They always twisted words.

I went to Ben's room to get a scrunchy. I always left stuff here incase I forgot something at home. Ben has so many pictures on the wall. Half the stuff I took, the others just memories. There's one where Jon and Ben were fighting but Ben's mom wanted to take a picture. I think it was elementary school graduation. I had to stand in the middle to separate the two.

Out of nowhere, I heard Jon and Ben yell out, "done!" I climbed out of Ben's window and down to the ground. Ben's mom has this thing on the side of the wall that holds roses. I've made a path so thorns do not stab me.

When I got to the two, they were already in their shorts. Ben shouted out "go!" and we raced to the water. Ben won because he ran before he said go. Jon wasn't paying attention and he got in last.

Ben and Jon were being stupid and did stunts in the water and they got cramps. Ben made it to the shore, but I went to get Jon. He was hurting really badly. When I looked for him, I couldn't see him.

"Hey Jon, Jon, Jonathan! JON!" I called out hoping I would find him. He wasn't around. Not in the water, not on shore. I looked under the water but couldn't see him. I was already freaked out, but this scared me even more. Ben was worried too, and came into the water.

I scanned the water turning in a circle. Then I looked again. There it is. I see his body floating in the water face down. I swam to him and turned his body so he was face up. I started swimming us to the shore. Half way there, Ben helped me taking him there.

We got him to the land. He wasn't breathing. I was too freaked out to do CPR, so Ben got ready to do it. As Ben got over Jon's body, Jon sat up.

"Don't even try to get your mouth near mine!" then he started laughing. Can you believe it? He was faking it.

"Screw this!" I said, and walked away. I was never good friends with hon. I was so freaked out when he disappeared. I dived into the water, and swam home.

"Min!" Jon shouted. "I was just kidding! Come on!"

"Min come back!" Ben called out. After tricks after jokes, after everything Jon has done, I have never been so scared by one of them, as I was by this one.

When I got home, my mom told me to go and finish my homework. I did that then I helped make dinner. Luckily, we didn't have guest today. My mom owns a Bed & Breakfast, we hardly get guest on Wednesday nights during most of the year, except summer. During summer, we have guests almost everyday. At this time of year, business is very slow.

"What's wrong Minu?" My mom asked. I couldn't even get the words out to tell her not to call me Minu.

"Nothing mom. I just want this week to be over."

"Okay, you know you can talk to me, right?"

"Yeah mom." That was a lie. I can't say anything to my mom. That's what my sisters are for. "Ma, I'm ganna go take pictures."

"That's fine, are you going to be home for dinner?"

"Maybe. I'm just ganna be walkin' up and down the shore."

"Okay. Be back before dark."

"K mom. See ya later." I went to my room, got my camera, and yelled "bye!" I climbed out my window, on to the roofish thing over the porch area, and climbed down the gutter. I put little things on the gutter so I could use it like a ladder.

Now I could walk up towards Nina's house, or down towards Sara's house. I decided to walk south towards Sara's house.

I like taking all kinds of pictures. Naturey, people, and other junk. Today I really wanted to take pictures of the sun setting over the water, and this was the best time to do so, because the sun was still above the trees. When the sun starts hitting the trees, you can't see the reflection of the light in the water. However, I needed to be on the other side of the river. I liked taking pictures mostly because I can draw them after I develop them.

Yes! I thought to my self. There is this one plant half way between Sara's house and mine. It's not too big, but it attracts butterflies. I started to take pictures of the butterflies around the flowers. I looked around; there was nothing else to take pictures of. Then I saw Jon's house. I always forget that is between my house and Sara's across the river. He probably wasn't home.

I saw someone walking up the road. I couldn't figure out who it was. I just stared until I realized it was Sara.

"Hey Sara." I said.

"Wow, you were staring at me for a long time." Sara said to me when she got to me.

"I couldn't tell who you were."

"Oh, that makes me feel so loved. Any way, did you do anything yet?"

"Why not?"

"Jon was around, then I left because Jon is an ass."

"what are you doin'?"

"What are you doing here?'

"I called your house; your mom said you were taking pictures along the shore. So I figured you'd either be walking towards my house or to Nina's.

"Well aren't you the smart one?"

"Yes, yes I am."

"Oh, shut up. We talked a little longer until I saw Jon was swimming to shore. "I'm ganna go."

"Why are you so mad at Jon?" Sara asked.

"I have my reasons. Are you going home now?"

"Yeah, I guess. See ya later Minnie.

"Bye Sara." We walked in different directions. I tried to walk faster so Jon couldn't come near me, but he has longer legs than me, and caught up with me.
