A girl you've known since fifth grade
She grew up in a house not a home.
She knew who Jesus was but never claimed him as her own.
Lost and confused though she doesn't know she is
Asks a simple question.
Says a simple phrase.
Problem is you can't believe her
She's told too many lies
All I see when I look at her is

Angel Eyes
But
Angel lies

Try to believe her but all I can say is "O-kay."
Just when didn't I try to tell you the truth?
About God and God's children and all that He's done for you?
Doesn't it mean anything at all?
Just lie to yourself, your friends, it's your life.
If you need me I'll be there but not when all I ever see is

Angel Eyes
Because
Angel lies

A messed up house
Your daddy left, but returned again when his other lady left.
Always trying to be something you're not.
But is it your fault?
It's the way you were taught!
Keepin' it real means cheating and stealing
For you all life is, is wheeling and dealing.
Making it seem right
the truth is too dull, eternity too short.
When all you've shown me is

Angel Eyes
But
Angel lies
