149"Isn't he beautiful?" Matt asked, his hand resting on the small of my back.
Out in the field before us was Phantom, galloping around just for the fun of it, his black mane and tail whipping in the breeze. He let out a deep neigh and reared up on his hind legs then came down with a loud thud. I had to smile. He looked so happy, running about and swishing his tail.
Matt whistled to him. "Phantom! Come over here and say hi, will ya?" he called.
Phantom's ears perked up and he turned his head to look at us, then broke into a full fledged gallop towards us. He skidded to a halt just before reaching into the fence. Anyone else might have flinched or backed away, but I'd grown used to it. Phantom was always like this, he was always enthusiastic about everything. He was strong and gorgeous and he knew it.
I bumped back my old black leather hat off my forehead to see him better. It was the same hat I'd bumped back many a times to look up at Victoria. Finally it felt right to wear it again. I reached out and stroked his black nose and ran my hand up into the grey of his forehead. "He is beautiful," I agreed.
"And so are you," Matt whispered in my ear. I turned to smile at me and he caught me in a kiss. A gentle one...a loving one. Softly, his hand found my stomach and I felt his fingers spread across it. Slowly he lowered himself to the ground and pushed my shirt up to run his hand over the smooth, tight swell of my stomach.
Matt presses his ear against it and held still for a moment. Then gently he whispered, "I can hear his heart beat."
"Really?" I asked.
He looked up at me and got to his feet, "Really." I smiled and he smiled back. "I love you Kris," he said softly and kissed my forehead.
"I love you too," I said back as he slipped his hand in mine, our fingers entwining perfectly. And then we walked back to the house. Our house. Our home.
James never called Paris back. Instead, after three days, he showed up on her doorstep. They've been together ever since and are now engaged.
Mag still runs her Inn as though it was her very first year at it. And I still think of her as my second mother.
Christina now attends college, as my father would have wished me to do as well. She's still the life of the party, but tries her best not to get mixed up with any jerks.
Mother has had a sudden bout of Renaissance obsession and recently bought about a million pictures from that period, but at least she's not completely remodeling our house.
Father's still father, burying himself in his work. Fortunately, he enjoys every minute of it.
Shane left town, none of us are sure where to, not even him. He figured he needed a change of scene, so he took his motorcycle and left.
I still see Trace every now and then and he teases me constantly about marrying Matt. He has yet to settle down, and I doubt he will for some time.
Chastity and Macom come by every once and awhile to see Paris. They too are engaged now, but knowing Chastity, it may take her awhile to get the courage up to actually tie the knot.
And so I live happily ever after.

Lemjo: Ah man, I'm so glad it made you happy! And I was working really hard to make Kristen develope over the course of the story, I'm glad I suceeded in that. After this? I hope so. I may go back and rewrite it but wow. It's just kinda crazy that its OVER now. Amazing actually. So I dunno what I'll do. But I WILL keep writing.
