Marlene arrived back at their apartment. Though still flustered at her encounter with the ex-fiancée, she knew Rudolf would take care of. Besides, I'm the one who's going to be Mrs. von Strastler, she thought to herself.

Rudolf came home at 5:30 sharp. "Hey honey! Listen, I'm really sorry about that. You know, Karolyn coming in and all."

Marlene sighed and gave him a hug. "It's alright. I know how it is. Okay. Well no I don't." She gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Was your day good besides that?"

"It was alright. Printing press stuff, but listen. I want to talk to you! First of all, when do you want to get married?"

Marlene looked around awkwardly. "…When we can?" Really, what does a 16 year old know about marriage? "I mean, you were almost married before, so how long do you think we should be engaged for? We just got engaged, honey!"

Rudolf tapped his fingers on the table as he sat down. "I agree whole heartedly. We should have some time to let the engagement set in. However, I just want to get it out. I've never mentioned this to you before, but I've thought about it a ton of times. I want to start a family with you, Marlene. We're doing so well lately, that maybe within the next year or two, it's the right time to start?" He hesitated; slightly flustered he just admitted that. "Of course, everything is up to you. You're still young. Of course, in your past… or future… in the 2000's this would be unheard of. Here it's another story. I'm not, in anyway, trying to persuade you, I'm just trying to get that out there for you to think about. If you're not ready, that's perfectly fine!" He was a bit embarrassed for fear of rejection and not sounding manly enough.

Marlene grinned at her fiancé. "I understand, perfectly fine, Rudolf."

Rudolf let out a nervous laugh. "Well, I'm glad I got that out in the open! In other news, care to go out for dinner tonight?"

She smiled. "I'd love to!" All the while, she had been thinking about what Rudolf had confessed to her. For a while, she had wanted the same thing, but had preferred that Rudolf brought up the topic.

After going out for a lovely dinner, the two walked, (stumbled rather), back to their apartment.

Marlene grabbed Rudolf and playfully bit at his lip. "Come ooooon," she pleaded. "Just open the door!" Rudolf backed away and slipped the key into the keyhole. "Alright, alright. Let's go in."

The two clambered into their bedroom. They weren't necessarily drunk, but each was a bit buzzed. Marlene was feeling extremely playfully and giddy, and Rudolf was in a great mood. "Come on, Rudolf, let's go for it."

Rudolf raised his eyebrow at her. "Well, I don't know. There are a lot of things to consider… and…"

Marlene took his tie in her hands. "Come on Rudolf, you know you want to…" she pulled him over to their bed with a smirk on her face. "We both do."

Rudolf grinned. "You're right. We do…"

Rudolf flicked the lights off. Marlene slipped off his jacket, untied his tie, and unbuttoned his shirt. He unzipped her dress. He leaned her down onto their bed…

…and the night was theirs.
