All the Things I Can Say for Sure

i can't say i've lived it all,

i haven't felt the cool spray,

from the depth of the ocean's joy,

or watched the sunset rise,

over a narrow mountain top.

i have yet to feel,

that bone numbing chill of death,

or heard the cries of life,

always in equal parts they say.

truth be told, i have yet to reach

that coveted point, where

life begins again,

far removed form the physical,

but still close enough to touch.

but then there are those tender certainties,

that all the world protests,

like,

Your smile on a cloudy day,

Is all the sun requests.
