To Every Season:
Turn Turn
It didn't take long for Mai to throw on a business suit and some nice jimmy choo's, so it was no wonder she got to the place early. Mai took a cab to Hill Diner and took a seat by the window. (A/N: I've never been to Hill Diner, so if it doesn't have windows, don't sue me…lol) She leaned her head against the glass and tapped her fingers impatiently on the table.
"Can I get you something?" a waitress asked her.
"Um, coffee?"
"Sure," she said and left.
"Mai?" someone said as they slipped into the seat across from her.
Holy shit-fuckers! Sorry for the language but I mean after a hefty amount of not seeing him, now was such a surprise.
"Jack?" her voice softly called to him.
"Oh god," he breathed.
"Oh shit," she cried and buried her head in her hands.
"I"-
"NO!" she shouted to him, "There's not one fucking thing you can say to me," and got up.
"Mai, no, please listen to me," he begged her as he tugged on her wrist.
His touch seared her skin; she boiled beneath his fingers. Mai heaved her hand away from him and briskly sat down.
"Go," she said.
Jack sighed and leaned on his elbows over the table.
"Please don't be mad," he said.
"Oh that's rich!" she shouted as she stood.
"Wait, Mai!"
"What?! Wait? Wait for what? For you?! I've been waiting for three fucking years, I'm tired of waiting!" she turned on her heal and out the door.
Jack leapt up after her and ran out the door.
"Mai! Let me fucking explain!" he shouted, several people turned to look at him.
"Why? So you can just make amends? Ya know, pretend that everything's okay?!"
"J-just hear me out," he softly told her.
Mai bit back tears and crossed her arms. She tried to avoid his penetrating gaze, but it was so not worth it; that and she couldn't help it.
"Fine," she softly spoke.
He sighed and led her back into the diner. Taking their original seats, neither one spoke.
"You just gonna sit there?" she snapped at him.
"I'm collecting my thoughts," he told her as he stared at his hands.
"Well do it a little faster, I have life," she reminded him.
He rolled his eyes and sighed again, "All right. I want you to know that I never meant to hurt you."
"Oh please," she spat, "Can we be anymore cliché?"
"Gimme two minutes and I can show you cliché!"
"I thought you wanted me to listen to you're bullshit!"
"I thought you were!"
"Fine."
"I'm serious, I never meant to hurt you," Mai refrained from rolling her eyes, "I…I needed to fix a lot of things with myself. I was never good for you, in the first place"-
"Well that wasn't up to you to decide, now was it? It was mine!"
"I know…I know…and I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for a lot of things. But I'm really sorry for leaving you."
Mai sighed and ran her fingers easily through her hair.
"This is a lot to digest in one night. I mean, I never thought I'd see you again. But if by some freak occurrence"-
"Tonight," he interjected.
Mai nodded in agreement and repeated, "Tonight, I didn't think it was possible to see you again."
Jack shrugged, "You always thought so small."
Mai looked up and met his eyes, "And you always thought so big."
The corners of his lips bent into a small smile.
"Please," he begged as he reached for her hand, "Mai I don't ever want to lose you again."
Mai shook her head, holding back tears and said, "I'm…I'm gonna need some time. I need to trust you again."
Jack furrowed his eyebrows together and said, "Of course! I wouldn't have it any other way. I just don't want to lose you again."
She nodded and stood, "I think my editor duped me," and laughed, "I'll talk to you later; you know where I live."
Jack nodded back at her and watched her leave. Sighing, the waitress finally brought Mai's coffee.
Mai felt rushed. Everything felt rushed. It was like she saw him in one swift motion. She couldn't believe he was back again. Three years is a long time. Mai's waited for this for so long. He's back, but how long will he stay?
"You're early."
"No Mai, you're late."
"Jaaackk," complained Mai.
"Alright-alright! Should I go around the block two more times?"
"Just come in," sighed Mai.
"Calm down, we're just hanging out."
"I know, but we're hanging out in my very messy apartment."
"Oh come on, it's not like I"- Jack paused and then said, "Mai? Is this your dirty underwear?"
Mai's cheeks ran a bright pink color as she yanked back the underwear, "Yes," she muttered and ran into her room to hyperventilate.
Jack chuckled and came to the entrance of her room, "Come on Mai, it's not like I haven't seen them before."
Mai looked up at Jack with wide eyes and all she saw was his devilish smirk.
"Shut up," Mai murmured.
"Hey," cooed Jack as he wrapped his arms around her.
"No," she hushed, "You're so mean to me."
Jack lightly laughed and looked down into her eyes, "You know you like me mean."
Mai fought her smile and said, "No…I hate you."
Jack bent down to kiss her, "You don't mean that."
Mai shook her head and smiled. He came close to her again and this time only grazed her lips with his. He could feel her struggling to get closer to him. He tugged her hips close to him and their kiss was equally lusty as it was longing.
Mai definitely needs more time.
Sorry it's so short, but if you review I'll prolly update sooner! Lol! Please and thank you.
