The midnight lights were flickering
And dancing the rain.
The clock kept on ticking
Marking every hour with pain.
A flame once brightly burning;
Its glow began to fade.
The times were swiftly turning;
The bright was swallowed by the shade.
The tears were flowing quickly,
Streaming down her face.
The feathers falling silently,
An angel's gift left in disgrace.
Her hands were worn from trying,
Her cheeks were wet from tears,
Her eyes left dry from crying,
Her mind was plagued by fears.
Her dreams slipped through her fingers,
The night carries her away.
"Please," she begged the Saviour, "...Don't let me die today."
