We left the café hand in hand twittering about whoknowswhats and loud
visible sweet nothings to the playground where we meet our childhoods with
screaming voices and awkward steps. I chase you playing tag hearing the
thud of each foot watching my
-responsibilities lies remorse-
lagging behind following but getting caught in the little sticky fingers of
that girl watching getting her bright pink lollypop stuck in her hair. The
coldcoldcold claws of my lingering ache reach grab hold my innocence
murdering with cold intent and I stop skidding on the melting boiling
asphalt. Drown breathe choke gag I watch as you run behind the tree past
those dull grey garbage cans hiding disappearing gone. I pant inhale exhale
suck in air through my wheezing lungs hoping wishing my heart would stop
pumping molten stings through my smarting wound
-but it hurts to remember.
