Author's Note: -final fantasy battle victory music plays- Haha, I've finally done an update that is like not months away. Aren't I special? Well, -ahem- in about 2 weeks I go back to school and I'm not sure I want to, but it's my senior year so I'm going to be a very busy girl. I have to start looking at colleges and stuff -scary- . But I've got a b/f -kawaii eyes- Yes, I'm excited, he's a good one too. :P Um, you probably don't care about my life so back to the story. I know I said before I based this off a few manga, but in truth right now as I'm writing it I'm not really anymore, but before I think they were "Mars", "Hana-Kimi", ummm I really cannot remember what other ones, but yea. Lol. None of my other stories have been semi-based off of manga, only this on. On further note, though I have already said this, I really dislike the way I have written it . . . it's not my style anymore and is quite poor for me. I'm in college level English classes, trust me, this is horribly written for me lol, but I shall try to keep te style consistent. And I keep writing this because I love all my readers so much. -huggles- (Oh and one last thing, sorry about how I keep switching from him to her and her to him for Sam, I'm really sorry about that. I didn't really notice I was doing it. Hehe But I try to do it in certain instances so just try to keep up with it :P)
Chapter 18: Panic
Kai jumped back as he saw Sam throw himself under the foamy water of the bath. Sam's eyes were wide open in almost a form of panic and Kai frowned. In truth he had never once seen Sam in the bathing room before, but what was the matter? They were both guys, right? Maybe Sam was just as surprised as he was that someone was coming to the bath this late at night. Kai ruffled his hair as he stood there in only a towel. For some strange reason this felt awkward and how could he possibly describe it? Like he just walked in the girls locker room? He cleared his throat uncomfortably and shrugged, "Why are you here so late?"
Sam just stared blankly at him stunned, her head remained bobbing on the surface. She prayed to every single god she knew of that he couldn't see anything beneath the water. Her breath was ragged with fear. If he found out she would be sent home and then . . . and then . . .
Kai grinned suddenly, "You look like an imp. What's the matter? I asked you a question."
"Oh . . . uh . . ." Sam's face was growing redder by the minute. If he noticed she would definitely blame the heat. "N-nothing. I was . . . you know . . . what are you doing here?" Sam felt foolish.
He cocked his head and raised an eyebrow, "What does it look like? I'm here to take a dip." As he said that he began to strip away his towel and he noticed that Sam adverted her eyes rather hastily. He assumed Sam was just shy or something. However, his felt increasingly wrong to him, but why? He ignored the feeling and stepped in, loving the fiery feeling of the hot water.
Sam cursed under her breath. Maybe he didn't notice her glance away. Her head spun and she felt lightheaded. Her cheeks flushed an even darker red as she thought about how dangerously close he was to her and how completely and utterly naked he was. A scream echoed through her head, but she couldn't help wondering about how absolutely gorgeous he was. She shook her head to chase away those thoughts. She had to get out of this situation somehow.
Kai sat directly across from Sam and watched her as she peered off at the wall. Suddenly the idea hit him like a brick. No matter what way he thought about it. Sam was really, well, feminine. Her eyes, her lips, even the back of her neck cascading to her pearly skinned back. Kai felt himself turning red. This wasn't right. Sam was a guy. He had to keep telling himself this and he would be fine. Sam was a guy, for sure. No doubt about it. This was an all boy's school by the way. But why was Sam so . . . so pretty? Disgust overcame him. There was no way he was falling for some pansy guy. He was so not gay. He had dated too many girls for that. Sam was just his roommate and a friend, sort of.
Sam finally looked at Kai and sighed with relief. Kai hadn't said anything yet about her being a girl. Maybe she was safe. Relief washed over her, but she continued to feel increasingly lightheaded. Kai was watching the far off wall and he suddenly opened his mouth to speak, "I should probably say this now when well . . . you're not running away. I wanted to say sorry." Sam's eyes widened in shock and she couldn't help feel giddy as she saw him almost cringe from saying the word sorry.
She smiled brightly, "It's okay. I can understand something like that. Probably wasn't the best time for me to bring it up."
Kai shrugged, but seemed a bit more cheerful, "Yea, well I guess I should leave. You seemed like you waited this whole time to have the bath to yourself. But, I mean, we're both guys . . . so it's cool, right?"
Sam gulped but nodded eagerly, "Yea, yea of course, we're both guys." She smiled simply and then almost spun around when Kai stood up to grab his towel.
Kai wrapped his towel around him and walked out the room, waving his arm in the air. Sam sighed the biggest sigh of relief and she stood up quickly. This had been too risky. She snagged her towel and wrapped it around her completely and sat on the bench, waiting a full ten minutes before she grabbed her package and went out to the locker room to change.
Kai leaned against the wall outside of the locker room, his towel was bunched up in his hands. Damn, he felt as if he had just walked out of a five hour long exam. Why was he so frazzled? He could have stayed there. She said herself, they were both guys. He shifted the towel to his other hand and then stopped when he felt rougher material in his hand. He peered down and noticed he had Sam's shirt wrapped up in his towel. That was strange. Maybe Sam dropped it when putting her stuff in the locker and he then thought it was his. He frowned and then shrugged. She would need a shirt. He sighed with laziness and threw open the door to the locker room.
He walked the length of the locker room and turned around the corner. At that moment, he suddenly wished he had just stayed outside. He dropped his towel and her shirt and Sam spun around on the wet tile of the locker room. She let out a shriek of surprise and her arms flew up over her chest, but it didn't really matter. Stumbling back against the wall, Kai just stared and his mouth must have dropped a foot. For there Sam stood in almost absolutely nothing, but strawberry pink lacy panties and an unzippered vest. Sam's eyes at the moment turned vicious and she merely glared at him in shock and horror. Kai eyes moved up and down her body. Sam was a girl? But . . . but, he felt suddenly sick again. He had been in the bath with a naked girl. This was too much for him. He backed away slowly and then spun around, running straight out the locker room.
Sam's mind raced. She was dead. She was absolutely dead. How could she be such an idiot? Her head was spinning and every horrible image came to her mind. Her mom would be horrified. Her dad would abandon her. And her sister would be so confused. She couldn't let this happen. She threw on the rest of her clothes and sprinted out the locker room and halted immediately as she saw Kai standing there. Did she really expect him to just leave without an explanation?
Kai's eyes lowered darkly as he stared at her and she shook her head slowly. This really wasn't happening. So many years of being safely hidden and now this? Kai suddenly marched foreward and grabbed her wrist, putting her up against the wall. She flinched when his face came close to her. "You're a girl?" Sam didn't open her mouth. Her heart pounded fiercely and her head spun in so many directions. Her world was collapsing. "Are you going to answer me?" Kai hissed out. She nodded numbly and felt his grip loosen just a tiny bit.
"Sorry . . ." She breathed out and tears began to fill her eyes. This was hurting so much.
"You lied to me and what now? Am I suppose to keep up your little charade?" Kai glared at her. Why was he getting so angry at her? She was nearly shaking. But he couldn't take the lying she had done. "What are you scared of? Are you thinking I will tell everyone? That's what I should do. I should send you packing home."
As soon as those words issued from his lips, he felt her whole aura shift into complete panic. Her eyes widened and she began to shake her head madly. Her body shook terribly and her hands clenched into tiny fists. "You can't!" She suddenly snapped out. With as much force as she could muster, she shoved him off of her and sent him flying into the wall opposite her. She stared at him and kept shaking her head. She couldn't be found out. She just couldn't. She flipped around and took off down the hallway, veering out the back doors of the school.
Kai leaned against the wall in confusion. He had never seen anyone so terrified in his life. What was wrong with her? He would have never told. He wasn't that much of an ass. He straightened up and began to race after her.
P.S. Sorry I didn't have anytime to edit this. So please excuse the mistakes. I'm getting yelled at to get off. I'm not entirely happy with this chapter but I don't feel like changing it. I'm lazy. Lol. But hope you like it so far. :P
