Prophet Mohamed (PBOH)- Iqra! (Read!)

Three days, three nights, at a time,
Prophet Mohamed climbed Mount Hira,
He worshipped Allah at this holy shrine.

One night as our dear prophet prayed,
Angel Jibreel shed is light,
And revealed the Koran, to the prophet, as he lay.

"Read!" he cried to the prophet on this night,
"I am no reader!" the prophet objected,
Blinded by the glorious light.

"Read!" the Angel demanded of the prophet once more.
"I am no reader!" he cried yet again.
At this the Angel said, "Read! In the Name of Your Lord,"

"Who has created (all that exists),"
"Has created a man from a clot,"
"Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,"
"Who has taught (the writing) by the pen,"
"Has taught man that which he knew not."

The prophet hurried home to Khadijah, his strength now dented.
"Wrap me up!" he cried, "Wrap me up!"
She quickly wrapped him in a white garment.

The prophet told his story, with a trembling spirit,
She looked at him joyously,
And told him he should embrace it.

"Rejoice, O dear husband and be cheerful." She had counseled.
"He is Whose hands stand,"
"Khadijah's life bears witness,"
"to the truth of this fact,
"That you will be the prophet to this people."

She arose and summoned her cousin,
Waraqa Ibn Naufal, who was old and blinded,
"He will be the prophet of his people." He informed them.

On when such occasion,
The blind old man came upon the prophet,
And warned him of whom he may liaison.

"I swear by Him in Who hand Waraqa's life is,"
"Allah has chosen you to be the prophet of this people."
"They will call you a liar,"
"they will persecute you,"
"they will banish you,"
"and they will fight against you.
"Oh, that I could live to those days."
"I would fight for these."

Thus the prophet embraced his fortune,
Wherein Waraqa's words were soon proved true.
