"Rem!" He faced the caller, the captain. "How's that account comin' so far?" He shouted across the precinct, straining to keep his eyes open. Captain Lazreth, first name: James, had been up since 6 A. M. the previous day working to finalize his testimony in another case.
Marcus, also called Marc, turned to him, eyes darting up to meet the Captain's without delay. "Sir, it's almost finished."
"Thank god." he muttered, without even thinking about it; then, he quickly recovered with "I mean, good job!" upon realizing he'd voiced his opinion aloud previously.
