When I woke up, I had awakened to soft voices and a bright light. I tried opening my eyes but they were too heavy so I rested and listened to the voices.
"She's going to be alright, right? She'll be fine?" A male voice that was similar to my father's said.
"As far as I know, she'll be fine. She's just got a bone fracture in her left leg along with her right arm broken. The doctor said she shouldn't go into a coma. He also said that she'll be awake within the days," said a man's voice.
Chris? God, that sounded so much like Chris. Please, God, let me open my eyes! I struggled for what seemed like 15 minutes before I finally got them opened. Immediately, I regretted it and wished that I hadn't. Before me stood not only Chris and my father, but also my mother and she was glaring daggers at my father. It wasn't a sight that you'd normally want to wake up too.
"What- what happened?" I simply asked. "Where am I?"
My mother quickly told Chris to go get a doctor before running to my side and softly saying, "You were in an accident. You had just finished talking with Chris and supposedly, you were driving on the wrong side of the road and a rig came and you tried to swerve, but ended up driving over the side of the railing, slamming into an old bark tree."
"How do you know all that?" It seemed kind of weird that she'd know every detail.
"I talked to the rig driver. He said that he honked at you and when you looked up, you swerved out of the way. He's the one that basically told us the whole story. Enough of that now, how are you feeling?"
"Horrible. What's wrong with me? That is, besides the leg and arm."
"I'm not sure-" the door opening interrupted her. A doctor walked in, and behind him was Chris.
"Hello, Miss Namath. How do you feel?" The doctor asked me, politely.
"Horrible. Like a ton of bricks just fell onto me. What's wrong?"
"You're just waking up-"
"What day and time is it?" I quickly interrupted him.
"It's October 6. You've been asleep for three days." I gasped. "I need to run some x-rays to make sure everything is dandy. Once I found out that you're all ready to go home, I'll have you're parents sign you out. Deal?" He asked.
"Deal, but before you do x-rays can I sleep a little longer?" I turned to my parents. "I know I've been here for three days and have been sleeping the entire time, but I'm extremely tired and exhausted. I hope you don't mind?"
"Not at all, dear. Get all the sleep you need. We're just so glad you're awake." My father walked over to me and it was then I noticed Gregory wasn't here.
"Mom, where's Greg?" I asked her.
"He's here. He went to get some food and to the bathroom," she told me. As if on cue, Gregory walked in.
"You're awake! That's wonderful," he exclaimed the obvious.
"Yeah, awake. Not for long though. If you don't mind, I think I'll be sleeping now. Night." I yawned and immediately, I fell asleep.

"Hey guys," I said when I awoke a few hours later and saw Jackie and her boyfriend and his friend waiting for me to wake up. "How long have you been waiting?"
They all looked over at me and smiled. "Not very long. What the hell happened?" Jackie asked.
"Car accident," I stated.
"No, really? Seriously, I thought you were being murdered by some psycho maniac." I rolled my eyes. "I meant did you go totally blank or what? Why the hell did you run yourself off the road?"
"Swerved out of the way of hitting a truck," I stated, dully.
She sighed, "Why did you even have to? I mean, why were you even on the wrong side of the road?"
I held back tears as I remembered why I was on the wrong side of the road. "C-Chris and I talked."
She didn't need anything else. She glanced over at the boys to dismiss them. Ryan got the message but Justin didn't seem to so Ryan grabbed his arm before leaving. "Are you okay?" she asked sincerely.
"I don't know. He wants to get back together," I told her.
"No. Absolutely not. He cheated and lied. You can't." Jackie had despised Chris ever since she "found out" what he was truly like.
"I might, Jackie. I just might." I breathed in and out a few times before I told her, "He was never engaged."
That blew over in a way I had, but hadn't, expected. "What!? He lied! Why the hell did he say he was engaged if he wasn't?"
"It was arranged. My parents didn't approve of him being with me, so they convinced his parents to set up a marriage for him. He wasn't happy, but he still agreed, nonetheless."
"Which is exactly why you shouldn't get back with him. Exactly why."
"But," I stressed, "he still loves me, and I him. Jackie, did you know I cry every night waiting for him to come back to me? Waiting for him to tell me it was all a joke? I hated myself, and I still do, but I really can't help it. I need him, I want him, and I love him."
"That isn't love. If he loved you, he wouldn't have agreed to his mother's arrangement. He would have told her to take it to hell, but he didn't, so he doesn't. Isn't it obvious? All he wants is to use you in bed. It's obvious that's all he thinks of-"
"No!" I interrupted. "No. He wouldn't do that to me. He really wouldn't. You don't know him like I do." At that point we were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"What?" I called and Ryan stuck his head inside,
"Justin wants to ask Jackie something real fast," he answered as he walked in the rest of the way, "and I want to talk to you." I sighed. Just what I needed: people I didn't know talking to me while I was physically and mentally unable to hold a decent conversation without arguing.
"Whatever. Come on in. Jackie, I'll talk to you later." Jackie bid me a get- well-soon and a goodbye before leaving. "What's up?" I casually asked Ryan.
"What's your issue?" He bluntly asked. I nearly choked.
"Excuse me?"
"I've been nothing but nice since we met a few days ago but all you do is snap at me. As for your "boyfriend", can't you tell Jackie is right? From what I heard, she's about 90% right. How could you go back?"
"You have the nerve to come into my hospital room while I'm seriously injured both mentally and physically to ask what the hell my problem is with you. Then, on top of that, you tell me my friend is right when you don't even know the whole fucking story. What the hell is your problem? Hasn't your mother taught you any manners? Don't you know not to bug into anyone else's business?"
"Don't even talk about my mother like that. I told you because I think Jackie is right and I'm also concerned about you," he said. Bullshit, I thought.
"Concerned? Concerned! You've known me for maybe a week, come in here and lash at me about my boyfriend and tell me you're concerned?! What the hell is your fucking problem? Don't even answer that. Just leave. Get the hell out of my room," I shouted.
"Look, I know something about him you don't. I do know him better then you, as well. So I suggest that if you want any information at all about him then you need to be a tad bit nicer to me in the future," he softly said before storming out.
What nerve that boy had. And what had he meant by he knows Chris better then I? That's not true, is it? He's just messing with me. I won't think about it too hard. Just as I made this decision, I fell into deep sleep.

"So, she's alright to come home?"
"Yes. Everything is fine aside from her leg and arm. She'll need to be on crutches for a while, though. I hope she doesn't mind, because once you see she isn't in those crutches she needs to come back in so I can talk to her." I groaned. My eyes fluttered open. "Oh, hello. How are you feeling?" The doctor asked when he noticed I wasn't asleep any longer.
"Same as usual. Can I go home now?"
"Of course. Let me go get a sign-out form for your mother to sign before I give you some instructions on how to walk, shower, etc. with your crutches," he responded before leaving.

A few hours later we drove up the driveway of the Namath driveway. Once parked, everyone got out of the van, leaving me behind. I just sat put before my mother came back and looked at me with an apologetic smile, "I'm so sorry. I forgot."
I grunted. "Whatever. Just get me out of the stupid car and into the house." My mother carefully pulled me out of the van before helping me across the driveway. I still wasn't fully aware on how to use the crutches correctly so I needed her help.
I walked inside the house and starting heading over to the stairs. I grabbed onto the railing to help myself up and within two 5 steps, I almost fell backwards but instead I fell into the arms of my brother.
"Whoa, sis. Hold on there. If you need any help, just say so."
I sighed and mumbled, "thank you. Would you do me the ever-so-kind offer of helping me up these horrific stairs, you big, strong, knight?"
He smirked. "Of course, fare lady."
When we reached my room, he set me on my bed. "I'll bring dinner up when it's ready. The phone is right there for you and if you need anything else, just yell," he said and left without letting me respond.
"Sure, bro. Sure," I softly said to nobody in specific.
