Forgotten Hero
King Arthur's gallant Knights of the Round Table
Questing for the mythical Holy Grail
Other legendary figures only heard of in fables
We call them heroes and to them we hail
Columbus and his adventurous voyages
Caesar and his ambitious deeds
We dedicate whole history books to them
Knowledge of them comes from factual leads
Other heroes are far more infamous
Such as Robin Hood and his chivalrous band
Of thieves who only steal from the rich
And live off of the forest lands
And Sinbad of the Seven Seas
His encounters with various mythical creatures
Were enough to make him among the keys
For opening locks leading to new adventures
And what about Achilles and his Greek friends?
Fighting in the bloody Trojan War
A war we know not whether fact or fiend
All we know is we want to learn more
But through this all we've forgotten one thing
Who made all of these heroes great?
Who wrote about their glorifying tales?
Who gave them such love or hate?
It is the power of the writer to describe
To make events seem glamorous or dull
And yet we do not think of the writer
When we imagine heroes of old
Alas! This is the fate of the writer
To not be applauded for his own works
Whether writing about Lincoln or Eros
For his vivid descriptions or quirks
But this is the fate of the writer
When describing the golden rays of the sun
When describing the cold darkness of night
To be a different kind of hero.a forgotten one
