The back of my throat tastes of salt and regrets
I lean against your body, folded in strong arms-
you're not squeezing too tightly,
but I'm suddenly finding it hard to breath
I return your fierce hug with a kiss of equal enthusiasm,
Warm wetness falls in tracks down swollen cheeks.
My tears, your tears, persist stubbornly with choking sobs
We'll see each other tomorrow-
Tomorrow when we'll be "you and I,"-
Today, we are saying goodbye to "us."
And suddenly it all seems funny.
