Night comes early, day ends late.
Ashes run through the hourglass
falling in a bell curve heap.
Words march across the screen,
sightless soldiers capture
information-glazed eyes.
Dust settles all around
in the lazy drift
of seasonless snow.
A too dry blink. Once. Twice.
Too many words.
Too much to see.
Ashes to ashes.
Dust to dust.
Glaring panels bright with learning,
without knowledge to be found.
Impotent anger, useless, unbidden-
sallow phoenix risen from
confusion fanned flames.
Sparking embers of panic-
the kind that only exists in the dark.
Feel the weight falling.
smothering. Stop. Drop. Roll.
Safety blanket dingy with ash.
Choke on the words.
Choke on the dust.
Ashes to ashes.
Dust to dust.
