Synopsis:

Tracey is a sixteen year old girl, coming to terms with a serious love, living with a drunken father, no mother and riddled with the hope of being able to be something more.

Her mother left when she was fourteen. She wanted more from life than her father could give. Somebody had to take care of him so Tracey quit school and that's what she did. Her father's increased drinking became the only barrier between Tracey and actually living a life. Working in a corner store, she is the only support for her father and herself.

Tracey and longtime boyfriend Mark decide that the time has come to take their lives in control. She has nothing to prove and Mark would follow her to the ends of the Earth.

So, she and Mark pack a car, leave in the dead of the night and head towards the highway.

Tracey's only comforting though is that she might actually become someone. Any place could be better than the one she's leaving.

Living on her own proves to be more difficult than she imagined. Tracey finds constant opportunities that would change her life dramatically. But they do not include Mark. Early on Tracey doesn't even consider them, but as live goes on, she finds it more difficult to resist the pull of sophistication.
