Chapter one
It's amazing how you don't realize what you've got until you've lost it. I used to be one of those people who took everything for granted. Until the day my life changed forever. Until the day I had to change schools. Until the day I realized I'm not the center of the universe. Until the day my most precious gift, was taken from me.

Angel walked down the street smiling happily. Her friends were around her. Angel was just that. An angel. Everyone loved her. From the geekiest guy on the chess team, to the hottest guy on the football team. But, no one loved her as much as her perfect boyfriend. Of course he was perfect. She was perfect. Her life, her clothes, her hair, her nails, her grades, her make-up. Everything. She walked arm in arm with the guy of her dreams. Matt looked at her with his deep aqua eyes. She leaned up and they kissed lightly. She pulled away and continued on her way to math class. She sat down and started the warm-up on the board. About half an hour later, the phone rang. No one looked up until the teacher called a student's name.
"Angel, you have someone on the line for you." Angel got up thinking it was probably her mom calling to tell her that she was going to pick her up from school. She took the phone and pressed which line it was.
"Angels Parks?" A gruff voice asked over the phone.
"Yes?" She said curious as to who this man was.
"I'm afraid to inform you your family was found dead in your home about half an hour ago. It appears to be a break in because only valuables were stolen." Angel couldn't speak. She couldn't breathe. Her family was dead? Her mom? Dad? Molly? All of them were dead? That couldn't be. Her sister had been sick and mom was taking the day off to watch her. Her Dad probably just forgot a paper and came home to get it. Then someone charged in the house and. She couldn't complete the thought. She stepped outside the room and closed the door.
"What do you mean dead?" She asked, waiting for the prank to be revealed.
"They were found dead in their house at ten-thirty a.m. when a neighbor heard a gunshot. I hate to tell you this but,"
"All of them? My mom? Dad? Molly?" She interrupted sounding more frantic with each word.
"Yes. We're doing all we can to find out exactly what happened. Please be patient. You need to find living arrangements for a little while. We're still trying to find a relative."
"What about my Grandma?" He was silent for a while.
"She was killed too." Angel stiffened. She fell to her knees in shock. This would only make it harder for the police. Her parents and all of her grandparents had been only children. And if they weren't, their siblings died in infancy, or they died childless. She remembered her Aunt Josephine. She had gone into labor three months early and neither her, nor the baby survived. Her Uncle Mac was so depressed he committed suicide not long after. She felt hot tears rush down her face.
"There's nobody. Nobody ?" She asked slowly.
"I'm sorry. By the way, I'm detective Jamison. I'm the head detective. I'm going to do everything in my power to find out who did this. Okay?"
"Okay."
"I'm sending someone down there to pick you up. She'll be there in about fifteen minutes. Wait at the office."
"Okay."
"You'll be okay." He said reassuringly. She walked back inside the classroom and hung up the phone. She went to her seat and put everything in her book bag. She took her purse. Everyone was looking at her. She felt their stares. She didn't care. She walked to the teacher to get her assignment and walked out the door. She made her way to the office, eyes trying to hide the unshed tears. She sat on the bench outside the office and waited. She pulled out her laptop. Normally she didn't bring it to school, because it hadn't been allowed until the beginning of that semester, but something had possessed her to bring it that day. She logged on and clicked on her electronic diary. She began typing about her day and the terrible turn it took for the worse. A woman walked up in front of her. She looked up. She was fairly tall with short brown hair.
"Angel Parks?" the woman asked. She nodded.
"I'm detective Joyner. I'm here to take you down to the station. There you can make whatever living arrangements you can get." She just nodded again. The detective smiled reassuringly. The drive was short and soon they pulled up to the police department.
"There's the phone. Call whoever you want. Schools get out in about an hour so if you want to wait it's okay." Detective Joyner left and Angel stared at the phone. 'I'm all alone. There's no one. Wait! I can call Matt!' She dialed Matt's number and after two rings, he picked up.
"Hello?" He said.
"Matt, it's me I have a favor to ask you."
"Oh, Angel, I have something to ask you. Billy said he saw you kissing Gabriel this afternoon. I'm not going out with a cheater."
"That wasn't me. I wasn't at school this afternoon."
"Why?"
"Well, it's because, because,"
"That's what I thought. It's over Angel. Bye." He hung up. She didn't cry. It wasn't worth it. She knew crying wouldn't solve anything. She called a few more people all of which had heard of her "cheating." She decided to call her best friend in the whole world. They had met at a daycare when they were little. They were immediate friends and even though angel was popular and she was a punk, it didn't matter to them. After a few rings she picked up.
"Halo?"
"Amity! It's horrible!"
"What? What happened?"
"First, my parents were killed and so was Molly and Grandma and then Matt and Billy told the whole school I cheated on him with Gabriel! And I need some living arrangements until they find another living relative and, and,"
"Angel calm down! Look you know you're always welcome here. Just stay with us until they find a relative. As for Matt, he was a jackass anyway."
"Thanks Amity."
"No prob. Look, you probably need some sleep. I'll have my Dad drive me over there to pick you up. We'll get you settled in." They hung up and Detective Joyner came in.
"Have you made any arrangements?"
"Yes."
"Good. We'll get some things from your house and take them to your living arrangements." She said. Not long after Amity arrived. They went back to her house. It was fairly big and was a very pretty house. They walked in through the garage and to the kitchen.
"What room am I staying in?"
"The room you normally stay in." Amity laughed. Angel wasn't laughing.
"Look, it'll be alright. They'll find who did this and put him behind bars. Matt will see that you are a lot better than whatever whore he's going to pick up and come crawling back. Then they'll find a relative and you can move back into your house."
"How do you know? What if the guy who killed them stays at large and comes after me? What if Matt doesn't see and he rubs it in my face? What if I don't have any other relatives? What if I drag you into this mess?" Angel didn't cry, but, she was crying now. She leaned her head on Amity's shoulder. Amity wrapped her arms around her friend.
"Shh." Amity cooed. "It'll be okay." *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Shojogurl: Well? What did you think? Should I continue? Review and tell me!

"I have to go to a new school?" Angel asked.
"They re-did the boundary so you and Amity are going to her old
school." Amity's mother said.
"You know the one I went to before I moved. Yes! I can't wait to see
everyone again! It's been so long!" Amity squealed.
"I don't want to go to a new school." Amity stopped at hearing this.
"Do you want to go back to all those backstabbers and cheaters? Do you want to hear them talk about you behind your back? I don't. Because I'd start something with one of them. Angel, you don't belong there. There's nothing for you. It's part of your past. Remember what we agreed on? You're going to forget. I'm not letting you go back to those Bitches and Bastards you thought were your friends. If they were your friends they wouldn't have started that stupid rumor. I'm going to make you forget. If it's the last thing I do."
"Thanks Amity. I really needed that. But I can't truly move on until I know what they think of me."
"Then we'll find out."
"How?"
"Simple, we'll have a party. A Valentine's Party. We'll invite everyone from our old school and from our new, well, your new, school. We'll show them."
