Frivolity and Fantasy

I'm going to find a dream,

a heavenly surrender

away from frivolity

and dancing and laughter.

But what ends

when the music stops,

when intellectuals leave

and my dead morale drops?

I'm going to find a dream,

a starlit massacre

away from the danger

and nymphets and strangers.

And what will you do

when I'm all alone,

when my heart stops beating

and I'm stripped to the bone?

I'm going to find a dream,

a disconcerting solace

with gun smoke and half-notes

where I pass, unnoticed.

But what will you lose

when midnight sets in

when the stars aren't out

and the dark stalker grins?

I'm going to find a dream,

and we'll truly be,

ever and always,

a faraway fantasy.
