Chapter four
"You're joking right? You really seriously are joking! Right?" Sernada said to her parents.
"No dear I'm afraid we aren't. The Prince's parents have set him up with someone to marry. She's some kind of Duke's daughter."
It had been a week or so since the ball. Sernada sulked in her room like forever since the ball. Now she was informed that he was going to marry someone. Well good for him! What did she care if he got married to some rich, snotty, spoiled brat? He would be happy with her and they would have lots of children, and they would live in a huge castle with stables and horses, and servants, and cooks galore, and lots of really good food, and did she mention children?
"Dear is something wrong?"
"Children and food, and nice horses…"
"Honey? Are you okay?"
"Lots and lots of children! And I hope they all TURN OUT UGLY!"Sernada cried out at the breakfast table. She looked around to notice that her parents were staring at her in a strange way.
"Do I need to get a healer dear? You seem to be a little…deranged." Her mother asked staring at her.
"No, I'm fine. I'm just having some issues."
"Is it about the Prince…"
"NO! ABSOLUTLEY NOT! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT?" Sernada exclaimed.
"Well you said something about him marrying a rich brat."
How could she be so clumsy? She literally said everything out loud! Sernada hit herself on the head as she walked away from the breakfast table. She completely made a fool out of herself in front of her family.
Besides what did she care if the prince married some one? It's not like she had any feelings for him anyway. She was NOT IN LOVE WITH HIM! NO WAY!
It was about mid-afternoon. It was time to go and feed the animals in the stables. Plus she had to milk the cow! She didn't care for doing that very much. She went out and walked to the pasture where the cow stable was. She had the pale and stool in her hands. She strolled up to the little barn where the family milk cow (Beula) was waiting patiently.
"Hey old girl how are you doing this morning?" Sernada slid the stool up to where Beula was standing. Milking the cow was one of the farm tasks she hated doing. It was such a pain to try and get the cow to give any milk. Beula was a very stubborn beast. She would fight Sernada every time!
"Alright girl, you are gonna be good this time okay?" She said uselessly to Beula. She was about to milk her when a voice came from the little barn door.
"We have servants that do those kinds of jobs." Said a familiar voice at the barn door.
Sernada knew very well who it was. She refused to look up when she answered back to him.
"Well some of us have to work for our feed…your highness."
