My Shadow

The wind blew wildly

Through the billowing night,

When alas' came a peace

Which gave us a fright.

No cricks, no creaks,

Nothing at all.

When I had finally seen,

What no one else saw.

It came first to the window,

Then to the door.

With a leap into flight,

It soared to the floor.

If only they'd seen

What my eyes only saw,

The way that my shadow

Flew right through the wall.
