We met by accident, a simple mistake,

A chance of luck, or a twist of fate.

But at once we knew it was more than that,

A fork in the road became one solid path.

We hit it off good, getting along so great,

The same things we loved, and the same things we hate.

We were meant to be, it all seemed so right.

But there was a catch so short of our sight.

And just like our meeting, the nightmare came.

A simple stray bullet and a crimson stain.

It went straight to your heart, so warm and big.

Like the strike of a match, or the snap of a twig.

And there in my arms…there you did lay.

Not shedding a tear as your life slipped away.

I cried for help, told you to hang on.

But you shook your head and said "Soon I'll be gone."

And with your last breath you said "I'll always be yours."

And then you left me and went to Heaven's doors.

You had so much to live for and so much to see.

A long bright future for you and for me.

And in the blink of an eye it was taken away.

Because someone's bullet went the wrong way.

So you had to pay, and I had to lose,

Over a simple stray bullet, not meant for you.
