Dreams and Reality

I dreamed of you every night

Of little children racing through fields

I would stand warm in your arms

Smile when you brushed your lips against my neck

I'd remember your kisses upon my mouth

The way my whole body warmed to your touch

I dreamed of lying against you

My hand splayed across your chest

The summer sun would kiss our faces

A cool breeze would rustle the grass around us

And when I would wake the next morning

Everything seemed to be true

I'd come to you; you held me

You kissed away my pain

But then I saw you with her

And I seemed to be lame

I ran inside as fast as I could

Couldn't believe my eyes

My heart was torn

And I didn't know how to sew
