It's scary to think that no one cares
That doors are closed along the stairs
That hearts are empty, eyes are dry
And no one sees any reason to cry
But that's not true, I hope you see
Just, people can hide it better than me
My eyes are swollen, pained, and red
My ringing ears, my aching head
I think you don't notice what I see
That if ignorance is bliss, no one's happy
Because everyone who's lived has seen some bad
Everyone's smothered their tears in bed
But they hide it, since it's weak to cry
You have to be tough to stay alive
Or at least that's what they all say
As they choke back the tears of yesterday
They smile, "It's something in my eye."
But I can see right through that lie
I guess we humans are dumb little things
Taking with agony all that life brings
