"A Desperate Sigh"

The woods are silent, still, and grey

And trees, like weary soldiers sway

But one sound heard, a desperate sigh,

Just one heartwrenching, muffled cry.

The cry, in cold grey silence resounds,

Pierces the sky and shakes the ground.

The trees all violently shudder and groan

As the icy winds echo the piteous moan.

The early stars weep in the deepening shade,

As the shriek, every part of the forest pervades.

The bloody leaves writhe at this outcry of pain,

While the resonating whisper of anguish remians.

The crimson sunset gives way to grey

And trees, like weary soldiers sway

But one sound heard, a desperate sigh,

Just one heartwrenching, echoed cry.
