Chapter 2
Welcome to : The Show

The first week of school worked relatively well. The homework was light and she had made a friend, Kayla, whom she felt getting closer to. And it did her good too, after being denied friendships and having a hard time trusting people, Kayla was like candy to her. She was still very well off with money, but no one had to know. Tonight, Kayla was bringing her to see a concert, Silent Equinox – a local band, and was hoping to have lots of fun. Kayla herself was a fun person, very energetic and always happy-go-lucky. If you were down, she could cheer you up.

Just as she was thinking about this, the phone rang. Kayla she grinned.

"Hey?"

"Hey sexy stuffs, how are ya?" She laughed.

"I'm great, and you?"

"I'm fine! Ready for that concert? I'm picking you up at 6. Be ready!"

"Of course I am! I can't wait." And this was the truth. Karrie had been waiting for this concert all week, not that she was a groupie of the band or anything, but she waited for this opportunity to get out and have fun.

"Oh, I was wondering if I could bring some friends with me. Guy friends!" She squealed. And Karrie laughed at this cute manor that Kayla has.

"Of course its ok… provided they are good looking!" She laughed with her.

Kayla blushed slightly and Karrie laughed. They were indeed good looking. The girls talked for a little while before hanging up and then Karrie looked at the time observantly. 5.35 PM Hmm, I guess I have time to work on my resume. She thought, taking out the pieces of paper she had. Even with the money her parents had forcefully left her, she felt she was abusing it and depending on it if she didn't get a job - and attracted attention. She had then decided to get a job, starting out by writing a resume. She really didn't have much to put on, other then she was bilingual, had always excelled in school and knew all her medical manoeuvres. Very impressive for a 17 year old.

She was adding the finishing touches and preparing her laptop when she heard a honking notice from outside and noticed the time. A female voice from outside, and approaching, called her name. Good thing I did my hair before my resume… or else Kayla would be mad at me! She laughed and grabbed her purse, on the counter in her small half-house sorry I really don't know the term. If you review, tell me!.

"I like your outfit!" Kayla told her upon seeing Karrie.

She replied the same and they went laughing to Kayla's car. The drive to the hockey arena where the concert is held was short. From outside the building there was a huge line up – and the inside was quite big.

"Oh… wow. Good thing I wore normal shoes, because those high heels look like they are going to kill you Kayla!" She explained to her friend as this one shrugged and they walked off.

Eventually – ok, after an ETERNITY – they got in the building and to their seats.

"Actually Kayla, good thing this band is good! Because that wait was just bad." She complained, with a huge grin on her face. "Where are your friends?"

"Your telling me, I'm wearing the high heels! Oh, they will get here. They told me they got seats around ours." She pointed out and returned Karrie's grin.

They sparked up some small talk to pass the time. Further into the conversation they were starting to hear whistling so they thought something was going on, on stage. They darted their attention and searched the area, but nothing was there. Confused, they re-engaged their talk. Moments later an other whistle immerged from behind them, both turned around to see who was doing the whistling, as it apparently wasn't about the show. Karrie immediately took a serious face and turned back towards Kayla who was still looking back. Then Karrie saw her wave and it triggered some emotions in her.

"Why on earth are you waving at him!" She questioned.

"Why not? He's pretty hot. Wait, how do you know him?" Kayla replied, puzzled – not taking her eyes off of the guys that had whistled. "And who's "him" anyways?"

"Because, oh god, he's in my English class and the guy on the right."

"And…? What's wrong with him? Oh my gosh, do you like him or something? Because I can totally dig Jay, his friend, instead!" Kayla explained, now looking at Karrie who was glaring at her.

"Uh, no. I don't. Like who ever you want. Mark is just… an ass. And, Jay? You know these guys?" She explained not wanting to tell her any more then she had to know.

Kayla looked away slightly, now knowing her friend wouldn't appreciate what was happening. But it was too late, and Kayla wasn't rude enough to do what Karrie would hope.

"You remember me asking on the phone if I could bring guy friends? Well, that's them." She confessed, but upon looking at the stun in Karrie's eyes, she continued quickly. "Well, the one on the, uh, left is the one I invited and I asked him to bring a friend for you! I didn't want you to feel left out!"

Karrie remained silent, bewildered. Thank you Kayla, thank you. Don't ever do me a favour again! She thought, but didn't want to say it as it was quite mean. She didn't want to term her friendship to her over some guy, so she smiled slightly, refusing to turn around and look at the "guy friends" that she invited.

Kayla picked up on her gloomy mood and desperately wanted to cheer her up. Her point in bringing Karrie to a concert was, after all, to have a good time. As a proof of good fortune, some music went blaring through the sound system and loud cheers erupted from the surrounding crowd.

From there on, the two girls had a good time, they had laughed and danced and sang and yelled – had a good time. The band was extremely good, especially for a local band, and the crowd was healthy. Sometime later, Karrie felt a weight on her back pushing her forwards. She stumbled to the side and the weight dropped to the floor. That's when she recognized it as a body, soon after as Mark. Idiot. He got up, but much to her dismay, he didn't leave.

"Hey babe." He was drunk. Karrie could smell the stench of the liquor he drank under his breath as he spoke. She softly pushed him off of her as he was leaning on her shoulder.

Kayla was gone with Mark's friend – what was his name again? – and Mark wasn't getting the 'cold shoulder' hint.

"You lookin' damn fine tonight mamie." He slurred, grinning.

If only he knew what he was saying.

"Mark. Go away." She really didn't want him crowding her personal space.

Ignoring what he was saying to her, she concentrated on the music and it drowned out his words. She was fine like this for a while, Kayla and Jay had eventually joined up with her and they were enjoying the concert together. Karrie noticed that Jay hadn't cared when she informed him that Mark was drunk and bouncing around. Either of two things could then be true: 1) they always do this and it's not surprising to him. 2) He was zoned out, thinking about Kayla's breasts too much that he didn't care about anything else. She couldn't figure out which would be most true.

About fifteen minutes later, the band had walked out of the stage and was called back for an encore when Karrie felt an other weight on her back. This time she fell to the ground and the body on her back only moved after they had both fell. Karrie shrieked.

"What the hell!" She said, getting up and wiping herself off. Her outfit was completely dirty and so was her hair & arms.

Much to her 'surprise' the guy who fell on her was indeed Mark – still drunk as a pig. But now she was fed up with his behaviour. He fell onto her twice, and now she was filthy dirty and tired and her good mood vanished quickly. When he turned around to walk away, she couldn't believe he had the guts to turn around and leave without apologizing. Did he even notice?

"Hey you." She called out to him.

He froze and turned around with confusion in his eyes.

"Baby doll?" He asked, obviously still drunk.

How much did he drink anyways? She wished she had it in her to humiliate him while he was in this state, but instead she just walked up to him and planted a slap right across his left cheek. She turned to face Kayla who was shocked of what she did but gave her a smile and a nod meaning she understood and he deserved it – which he did. This one finally showed a spark of emotion in his eyes. On reflex, he grabbed Karrie's wrist, the one that has slapped him, and held it there. Karrie's attention darted to him immediately – she had planned to simply walk away.

"Let. go." She ordered him after a while of awkward silence.

He smirked and drew her arm closer. "Don't ever… hit me again."

She squirmed and tried to break free. She really wanted to leave and go home, but mostly she wanted to put him in his place.

"Don't fall on me, and then it would never have happened." She replied calmly through gritted teeth. Karrie wanted nothing more then to yell at him.

"Then be out of my way."

"I was so not in your way. If you weren't piss ass drunk you would have noticed!" She replied a little louder then she had expected to.

"What makes you think I'm drunk?" He replied evenly, his eyes flickering with anger and mischievousness.

No way. She thought and back away, yanking her wrist back to her control and without losing eye contact side stepped to Kayla.

"Home. Now."

Ok! I have an explanation for the delay! I had to update a story – Flashback of your Past Life – for a certain reviewer. Also, I was focused on my Felchion Stars fiction and wrote a couple poems. AND AS WELL I had to maintain my screwed up love life and really busy school schedule. I know it's not really an excuse, but sorry! I warned you all I am a slow updater. I just don't want to get sick of my stories, and for me – writing more then a chapter is a miracle. Why? Because when I get inspired to write a story, it doesn't go quick enough so I lose that beginning inspiration. Note that I don't have a plot, nor do I really want to write one as I would be restricted to it. And lastly, sorry if this story doesn't start out very romantic.

Aww I lost two reviewers :( lol

Birdytamel: She is going to be fluent in French, yup :D Hmm.. yes they should stay in France… muahahaha. :P Just playing.

Joseph-Kenji-Bennington: gives a big kick to the document manager for us lol! Yup. And thanks a lot!

And eh, sorry the chapter is just a filler. I need plot ideas lmao. Eh. I wanna make this comedic a bit as well.
