The Key To Ki
Chapter Eleven: Unlocked
Maki flipped through Chin's book, it was October and school had started, she was currently situated in her living room, Chin had been drawing and she decided it was finally time to drag his art book away from him.
There were several drawings of her, but none were as good as the one she had seen on the bus. Maki turned the book sideways and looked at the finished piece of art work "beautiful."
"Um, sorry I didn't ask you if I could..." Chin's eyes looked nervously around the room.
"Nothing wrong with it, if there was we would have some serious problems with our friendship. But, I have a question, I get this one, and the other one from a while ago but, why didn't you ask me for the other pictures?"
"I thought you would get creeped out."
"Aww, how sweet and stupid, you know it takes more then that."
Chin smiled at her, "alright then, can I draw you now?"
Maki's eyes went wide and she pretended to be scared, but he knew she was faking "I dunno..."
"Maki!"
"Alright alright, where do you want me?"
"Just sit on the couch, like you normally would, and stay still."
Maki shifted positions and handed him his book, she now kneeled on the couch, her knees tucked up underneath her, her hands were at the side of her legs and she leaned slightly forward on them, her hair was up in a pony tail, and two strands of her bangs fell on either side of her face.
The black tips of her hair had faded, and Chin found that he didn't miss them as he began to trace her form. She had a smile on her face, he began to trace her dark jeans and light blue T-shirt that said 'Smile, and you just might scare someone'.
Chin smiled, Maki was still the same person she was when he met her, but different, she no longer locked everything away. Maki could still hold her own, and she was still reserved but now she showed her anger, sadness and everything else. He had unlocked the box that held her emotions. He was the key.
As Maki sat there her mind strayed, everything was looking up, her uncle was in jail after a long trial. Her and Chin were even closer, Ran and Vain had become better friends and the four of them hung out together often. Her mom was still working a lot, but she was trying to spend more time with her daughter so that was ok.
Maki still had problems in school but that was something she could handle. If everything was perfect and if she didn't have to deal with people like Sayo she would have to go into a mental institute and call the world crazy.
"There, I can do the details and such later, along with color, what do you think Ki?"
Maki leaned over and looked at the drawing "awesome! You're REALLY talented!"
"Well so are you."
"I can't even draw a stick figure."
"At writing."
"What ever you say..." Maki shook her head "wait...have you been reading me stuff?"
"Maybe..."
"Why you-!" Maki got up and chased him, up the stairs, down them and out the door.
