"And last but not least, don't forget about the second auction to be held in one week. If you are interested in being a part of it, sign-up sheets are in the office." the blond girl reading the announcements said.

Moira just scoffed at that. What kind of idiot would put themselves through that bullcrap? "Are you going to take place in the auction?" Josh asked from behind her.

She turned around and just greeted him with her most annoyed don-even-start-with-me expression. "It's degrading, humiliating, and downright pointless. It should be against school policy." she told him.

Josh just looked at Moira with his intense brown eyes and awkward smile. Today his dyed blue hair as spiked up, making him look exactly like a skater except for the color.

"Aw come on Moira. Don't be like that. They think it's for a good cause. Let them have their fun." Josh put in.

Why did he always have to argue with her? And why did he always stick up for the school?

Getting money so that the school could buy more meat for food was not a good cause. It went against everything that was right. And Josh was crazy if he thought she was going to participate.

At lunch Moira's other friend Gracie met her by the entrance to the school. "So where's Josh?" Gracie asked as Moira approached her.

"I don't know." She sighed.

Gracie just shrugged. "He'll find us. Let's go." She said and Moira followed her to her Jeep. As usual Gracie got into the driver's seat and Moira got the shotgun.

Gracie took out two cigarettes from the glove compartment and handed one to her. Moira lit hers as well as her friend's and they just sat there until Gracie brought up the one subject Moira didn't want to talk about.

"So a lot of people are talking about this auction thing. What do you think? Should we 'buy' a jock?" she asked, grinning.

"No." Moira replied automatically.

"Oh come Moira. It's just a stupid little auction. Having one of those goodie-goodies to boss around for a week is like, what we've wanted to do ever since we met Eric Daly." she whined.

"If it was for any other cause I'd say yes. But they just want to buy more meat they got from slaughtered animals just for food." She argued stubbornly.

Gracie took another drag before replying. "Yeah, but just think of the fun…"

"No! Jesus Christ, why does everyone keep talking about this?" Moira snapped, not particularly to Gracie, but she was part of the 'everyone' that she was referring to.

"Fine. We won't." Gracie said, holding her hands up in a surrendering motion.

Moira took another drag, and they heard a tapping on the backseat window. They looked over in a panic, thinking it was a teacher, but it was just Josh, holding an ice cream cone in his hand.

Gracie unlocked the Jeep and Josh came in.

"You drip any ice cream on my seats and I will fucking kill you." Gracie hissed.

"I won't. Your stupid smoke is going to make it melt faster, so it'll be your fault if I spill." Josh pointed out.

"Just eat quickly!" Gracie snapped.

Josh obeyed, and started making disgusting slurping noises.

"So there are a lot of people taking part in the auction. There's like, half the school in a line." Josh said, probably just for Moira's benefit.

"If you mention that damn auction one more time…" she threatened, truly angry now.

Josh laughed. "Sorry Moira. Oh no, I seem to have spilled some of my ice cream on your precious seat Gracie." Josh smirked.

Gracie's long black hair hit Moira in the face as she spun around in her seat.

"You little ass! I told you not to spill! What are you, four years old?" Gracie hissed, and grabbed his ice cream cone and threw it in the trash bag by her feat.

"Jesus! It's just a little ice cream!" Josh cried.

"My name's not Jesus." Gracie said, annoyed as she shoved a napkin in his hands. "Clean it up."

They spent the rest of lunch in the car, and Gracie forgave Josh and let him have the rest of her cigarette. When the end of lunch was here, Moira put her cigarette in the trash bag.

"See you guys after school." She said, then went to her biology class.

"So are you going to participate in the auction?" Randy's friend Chase asked in biology class.

"Yeah. Maybe Becka will be in it." Randy said hopefully. Chase snorted.

"Randy, just get over it already. Becka moved on, and so should you. I could hook you up with the co-captain of the cheerleading squad! How can you pass that up?" Chase asked in astonishment.

"I can get my own dates. I'll be you anything I could get any girl in this school if I wanted." Randy bragged. It probably wasn't true, but the last thing he was going to do was be hooked up with a random girl, even if that girl was Heather Glenn, co-captain of the cheerleading squad.

"What? Are you going to do a Freddy Prince Jr. and choose a random girl to become prom queen or something?" Chase asked, laughing.

Randy just gave him a look. "No you dumbass. I'll bet you that I can get any girl in this school to fall in love with me." He said, and suddenly that was going to be his goal. To prove to Chase that he was above pity dates.

"Are you going to ask Gracie Fleming to love you?" Chase asked, still laughing.

"No. That would be too easy. I need a challenge." Randy replied, thinking about all the girls he knew. It suddenly dawned on him that all the girls he knew would go out with him if he wanted. He didn't mean to sound conceited, but that was just the way it was.

Chase seemed to catch onto this because he said, "Well, I'm sure there will be plenty of girls at the auction. Just don't worry about it. Ok? Plenty of other fish in the sea."

Randy just nodded. "Ok. I'm over Becka." Although he wasn't entirely sure if he was or not.

The next day during second hour, everyone was anxious to know who was going to be in the auction. Moira just sat down, trying not to listen to it, but failing. She really didn't need to know who was going to stoop so low as to ridicule themselves, and all for some stupid meat.

"And finally, what you all have been wondering. The names of those that will be available at the auction." the same blonde that had read the announcements the other day said, as if the whole school wanted to know something like this.

She started reading all the names, and Moira could literally feel Josh's excitement. What was he so excited about anyway? Was he planning on 'buying' someone?

"And the last person who has decided to take part in the auction is Moira Williams."

A/N: Too fast? Yes, I know I shouldn't start another one, but it seemed really good. If you have any criticism about this, please make it nice. Like it or not, I would really appreciate reviews!
