The complexities of

life and love

are lost

within the darkness

where we lie and wait

for silence to consume

our jumbled thoughts

Surrounded, we are,

by peace and solace

in the shadows of the earth

and blue-light of the moon,

yet out of our reach,

it lies.

Concrete prisons

shutter up

man and dog alike.

Winds must be barred,

the air replaced,

as though machines are capable

of creating something better.

Our shelter is sturdy,

in the face of what poisons

have been gasped from metal maws

dying breaths.

The purity

and forgiveness

of our moon

has been lost

in a haze

of progress.
